true, but these two eras stand out to me because those albums weren't the most fulfilling. yeah, both ghost story and all your friends capture the GS atmosphere better than most songs in the album.

was listening to ghost story today and realized that coldplay dropped three of the best songs in the last two eras (not counting ahfod ofc) into b-sides. just increased my expectations for the ep!

about the band's denial of the peace concerts, don't think we have heard the last of it. there will be "some" coldplay event there unless it gets cancelled due to any number of reasons. chris and phil can't have been scouting the dead sea for days for nothing. but the peace concert concept sounded very improbable and pretty impossible. i knew any coldplay involvement in this conflict area will be messy. a lot of fans will be unhappy/disappointed no matter where they played, in whatever involvement it was. when they posted the pro palestine video during viva there was a lot of negativity around that too. whatever they are doing right now, let's give them a chance to officially announce it first, and not jump the gun. feel like the coldplay a couple of eras back wouldn't do what they are doing now, but i feel like coldplay's black and white world has turned more grey in the recent years. i feel it myself and think it is part of growing up. the way you think about the world definitely changes. even with the questionable, more commercialized things coldplay have done lately, they still don't seem to be morally bankrupt enough to try to milk a conflict zone to their commercial benefit. light years different, but they played a free gig in india when they could have actually played as part of their own tour and charge loads of money. there are plenty of things coldplay do for the good of the people. have a feeling coldplay will try to do something that encapsulates both sides. they are shouting from the rooftops about love for everybody after all. if that fails or is not the case, we'll see.. and about the security concerns, we are talking about one of the most conflicted areas in the world. if a coldplay concert happens, it will be highly publicized. people have strong convictions around this issue. it is usually a bad idea.

have a feeling that it would be released mid february to early march. in time for the next leg of the tour. excited for this leg after will hinted they want to do some changes to the setlist.

to me the obvious outlier is xmts. because it is more of a "proper lyric" song. maybe the rest of the band was like, "isn't it enough that we included it in the lp??" haha i would completely understand that.

honestly, we feel that way because chris is the mouth piece of the band. the guy who takes most of the praise as well as slings and arrows. we just don't hear the personal views of the other band members. in any way, i believe that generally what the band say and do, both musically and otherwise, are more or less aligned with the majority of the band's thinking. again, it is not just chris, it is a band. that being said, will seems to be a very sensible man :)

honest question, i can understand not being a fan of the material the band puts out now. but what about "what they stand for" now is outright distasteful to you? i have not wholeheartedly loved or enjoyed an era since viva, but i remain a huge fan of the band and what they stand for. it's true that they have made some questionable and unexpected decisions of late, like the beats pill in aoal video. but ultimately, they stand for spreading positivity, love, inclusivity and community. in these divisive times, they are a refuge. to me and to numerous other not-big-fans-of-the-recent-material fans, or any type of listener.

the video is beautiful in it's simplicity. and great to see the actual vocal recording footage. missing jonny and his solo though.

we know for sure that the original contract was for 5 lps. but around 2010, there were rumors about that being extended by 2 more lps. so ahfod basically fulfills the contract. there have been some articles in the last 2-3 years about interest of signing coldplay by other labels after the 7th lp. we'll see. i have a gut feeling that coldplay won't go rogue. they'll stick with a major label. i hope i'm wrong.
