that photo was disappointing.. but i wouldn't take the word of a very biased person (see above) that chris and jonny visited a military base. could have been part of the troops that escorted the band around as well. the only credible reports so far have been from the love button org instagram. even the band is very eager to shoot down any pr announcements people they may or may not be involved with over there are putting out. they show that they are aware of the weight of their actions in such a conflicted region. i'll still be waiting for official outcome of these trips.
2. add depth and how good would that be? well, one song with real depth would do it for me. we've had too much saccharin (even disguised as bitter) lately from the band. another ghost story/midnight equivalent of the ahfod era is what i'm hoping for.
3. and about the performance tonight: Mobile Link: https://twitter.com/thisisbenjones/status/834420712895021059
4. :worried: anyway, about debuting the song tonight at the brits, Mobile Link: https://twitter.com/TheChainsmokers/status/834383613395398656 probably the live debut would be at the iheartradio music awards. the chainsmokers and chris are announced to perform. and about using coldplay name for publicity instead of chris martin, i feel like that is probably true. unless this song ends up in the ep (by the banner ad, it looks like a chainsmokers song), j/g/w probably had minimal to nothing to do with it. a lot of us fans are pretty frustrated with the (bad) pop aspirations of the band. maybe it's coldplay making the collabs not as good as they can be. i mean we all were worried about avicii, and the coldplay version of the song turned out worse than the avicii version. that is saying something. edit: huh.. the chainsmokers deleted "day off in brussels" tweet.
5. Yeah I can see a tribute maybe. But any other song from AHFOD would be pretty meh. Let's hope for a new song. And I agree, not highly likely. But with the low attention EPs get compared to LPs, this would be good promo too.
6. So apparently Coldplay are playing the last slot tomorrow at the Brits! Fingers crossed we'll get a new song. AHFOD is pretty stale now and if they played a later single from it, it would be underwhelming. Either way, we should get some info about the ep this week I think.
7. haha! "i don't want to play any coldplay songs tonight."
8. this is from last night. for a second there, even chris couldn't remember that coldplay have a song called fun :joy: maybe a sign that fun won't happen in the tour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ1wYs0gAa4 Mobile Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ1wYs0gAa4
9. phew :) good. carry on people. let's forget about stargate for now.
10. fingers crossed you are right!
11. has it been discussed yet that ryan tedder said in a grammy interview that he has been working with stargate and coldplay? correct me if i'm wrong, but he didn't work on ahfod, so this has to be about the ep. then stargate again?? hope not..
12. i didn't save it. saw it on twitter/instagram a while back.
13. you know, i've seen a screen grab of a text book where the discussion is facial asymmetry and a grammy 2009 pic of chris and its mirror were used to show how asymmetric faces look like :joy: and it sure is obvious to me too.
14. Hi

welcome to coldplaying :)
15. like i said in another thread, coldplay are still a very positive force in the world. i don't think anyone should write them off based on what someone thinks who they are based on possibly misguided perceptions :)
16. Coldplay throw support behind refugee and migrant charity Band becomes patron of Migrant Offshore Aid Station and Chris Martin sings a capella song on new film for charity Chris Martin said the band were proud to support Moas’s life-saving work. Photograph: Sarah Jeynes/BBC/PA Patrick Butler Social policy editor Thursday 2 February 2017 10.39 ESTLast modified on Thursday 2 February 201710.47 EST Coldplay have thrown their support behind a charity which has saved the lives of tens of thousands of refugees and migrants fleeing war and persecution in the Middle East. The band, which has a long history of support for a range of charitable causes, has become a long-term patron of Moas (Migrant Offshore Aid Station), which operates professional search and rescue missions in the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said: “Every year, Moas rescue thousands of people who risk death at sea while searching for a better life. But for an accident of geography, those people could be us and we could be them. For this reason, we’re proud to support Moas’ life-saving work”. FacebookTwitterPinterest Over the past two years Moas boats have rescued an estimated 33,000 refugees attempting perilous crossings to Europe in often overcrowded and unseaworthy rubber dinghies. The majority of refugees were from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. Last year, at least 5,079 refugees and migrants drowned while attempting to cross the Mediterranean alone, according to the UN Migration Agency, although some charities believe this figure is likely to be an underestimate. Martin sings an a capella version of his song Don’t Panic on a short fundraising film released on Thursday that features footage of a recent rescue. Moas said the fundraising film “aims to give the viewer an immersive experience of a rescue and show the fear, hope and anguish experienced by the refugees and migrants”. The timing of the band’s announcement comes amid increasing global political tension over refugees and border controls, including US president Donald Trump announcing controversial measures designed to prevent refugees from entering the US. Moas said that in light of recent political developments Coldplay believed it was more important than ever to stand up and support vulnerable people. Founder Regina Catrambone said: “We are very grateful to Coldplay for believing so strongly in our cause. “Moas is a young organisation that in a few years has managed to make a significant difference in mitigating one of the most heart-breaking humanitarian tragedies of our era. However, there is still so much to be done. Coldplay’s support will allow our work to reach the hearts of a wider audience worldwide”. Moas was founded in 2014 by two Italian-American entrepreneurs, Chris and Regina Catrambone, following a humanitarian disaster in October 2013 when an estimated 400 men, women and children drowned off the island of Lampedusa. It was one of six refugee charities that benefited from the Guardian and Observer’s 2015 charity appeal, which raised £2.6m. Coldplay have supported a number of charities over the years, including Oxfam, the Red Cross, War Child, Amnesty International and Kids Company. Martin reportedly donates 10% of his annual income to charity. link

welcome back :)
19. yeah, don't think a protest song is going to happen. but another "carnival of idiots" line or two in a song would be great. i'm hoping for not-so-poppy-as-ahfod, in-house produced songs.

you are taking tabloid gossip/unsubstantiated articles as gospel to make your points. besides, if the original deal was to play for promoter money, why the scouting? they haven't scouted any other places they played for money. they only scout locations for very special events. what that may be, we'll have to wait and see. and if safety is no concern, again, why would they spend multiple days scouting a remote location? there is more to this story than money grabbing and i don't think it's "taking sides" as you think it is. again, haven't coldplay supported the palestinians in the past? have they said anything, or actually done anything to show that they are taking sides? and no, scouting a location in israel by itself doesn't count. and how would it be "showing love for everybody" if they were to boycott israelis. that's contradictory. what i am saying is, coldplay seem to be going the more hippy path of "we love everybody. love is the best way to make things better". whether that is realistic or effective is another question. but these are just observations. we don't know the inner workings of the band. we'll just have to wait and see.
21. i felt like it was a pretty nice area. just that part of the street was not so posh :)
22. does it work the same way as the coldplay ticket presales? if so, mind sharing the presale code if you get one? pretty please :)
23. thanks christa! today is the u2 general sale and looks like the concerts sell out in less than 15 mins of going on sale! it's going to be a nightmare! and too bad i am not signed up with WASTE. guess you need to?
