[8-Jul-2012] Coldplay @ Verizon Center, Washington, DC, USA
AMAZING SHOW. We were about three rows above the C stage and were able to touch a lot of the instruments as they went down with the roadies. We were also able (we were so lucky to get aisle seats) to reach over and shake hands with both Chris and Will as they went down (Guy and Jonny didn't see us). Will seemed to grateful and nice to see us freaking out over shaking his hand :) Overall a very very good one!

^ I do love that photo, considering I did it (baahahhahahhah my watermark) :sneaky: No passive aggressiveness, but it's nice when if you take a photo off a Tumblr blog or whatever, that you guys at least put a link? It took some time to get it to look like that....:)- ~*~ The Official Will Champion Appreciation Thread ~*~
He said something like that he and Jonny always play for the same team and that their team had won :) Seriously how cute can they get.- What collaboration would you like to see?
YES Fran has the loveliest voice, not like Chris's but gorgeous all the same. Also Andrew Bird has this fascinating quirkyness that could add a lot to a Coldplay song. :laugh3:- Article: Why people hate Coldplay
EXACTLY. I've tried to explain this to people...my lovely mother and her boyfriend only know Chris because of Gwyneth anyway (bless them) but they've been force fed enough Coldplay to understand now.... There is most definitely a democracy, and probably more than a lot of bands around right now.- LOLdplay: I Can Haz Cake?
"Your Allstars are fake." BWAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAAHHAA Guy would be that one bloke who notices :D- What collaboration would you like to see?
YES I was just thinking of this! Noel is pretty good friends with Chris, too....:wink3: It would be an interesting mix. Other than that...hmm... I can't think of a female artist I'd see them working with. Rihanna sounded good but I can't really see another good voice that would work with Chris's. People always say Florence from F+M, but she's so operatic and it would come out wonky in my mind. But perhaps that's just my dislike of male/female duets in general  Jonas Bjerre pops into my head all of a sudden (of Mew). He's got an interesting vocal style...plus the whole band are very interesting with their music. And now I see Mumford and Sons. Not really in the same genre but they have an overlap in lyrical styles occasionally, and their sound would be interesting with Coldplay. Gah that was long but this definitely has me thinking...- More Chris journal entires from the early years
I've got ones by Jonny and Will, and also a few by Phil too. They're very... different but fun reads all the same :dozey: Glad to hear you guys like these.- More Chris journal entires from the early years
Well, a very happy birthday to you, love. Glad I could help  Chris can be quite hilarious (in his slightly unintentional way).- More Chris journal entires from the early years
The newby insomniac is back, with more lovely finds courtesy coldplay.com and the WayBackMachine. ;) I've gone through the website's 'journal' archives and found some very interesting updates written by Chris himself at various points of the Parachutes promotional years. I've also got some later ones by Jonny, Will, and Phil, which I'll save for later. Again, nothing changed but paragraph breaks. This one dates a bit later, and is signed from the whole band, though titled with Chris's name. It sounds very much like him, though! Again, I'm so ridiculously struck by what's written here. Fantastic insight, and it's quite fun to dig around the pits of horribly laid out 2001-era websites at 1.00 AM. There are lots of various photos posted, but I've yet to discover if one can expand them beyond the teeny tiny size they are on the site. Enjoy!- An online journal entry by Chris Martin, May 26 2002
Oh, yay, people liked this! :D I'll put my feelers out for any other nuggets of this type...they are good to read. (Also, 11 thanks!) No wait make that 14.- Article: Why people hate Coldplay
Can't say I liked that at all...though at least he tried...- An online journal entry by Chris Martin, May 26 2002
I was having a rather difficult time falling asleep last night and found my way over to waybackmachine.com, where I had some fun taking screenshots of coldplay.com over the years. Messing about the years 2002-2003, I came upon this version of the site: Becuase it's waybackmachine, most of the links don't work, but I did find one very interesting thing at the "diary" section of the site sometime around 2002. These "diary" entries are very short and mostly by Phil regarding tour dates, but there is one actually written by Chris! It makes for very, very interesting reading. I put in some paragraph breaks, but this is the exact format it was written in by a 25-year -old Chris: An English teacher's nightmare it may be, but it's also weirdly fascinating to me. (also, my first thread. Hope I done good :smug:)- Chris and Jonny
GAH I AM WIERD I find Guy the easiest to draw out of all of them! I draw him wayyy to often so maybe I've just memorized the little details of his face :smug: I draw him in pen a lot. Something about his face...it's a bit almost square-ish (sort of?) and his hair isn't too difficult :) That picture was really, really good, though! Okay perhaps a Guy drawing has no place in this thread and I shouldn't insert myself into this conversation :uneasy:- [3-May-2012] Coldplay @ American Idol, Los Angeles, CA, USA
Good thing the tickets are being given away in pairs, to LA, and you need an adult with you if you're under 18 :/ Underaged east coast Coldplayers unite XD- The one and only Coldplay Sloganmaker thread
TEHEE. :wink3:- News from the EMI / Warner Music / Parlophone / Atlantic Records shakeup...
Travis were so great back in the heydays. Oh well. I really don't know. I mean, it would be so interesting to see them take their own reins, but I always forget of how huge of an act they really are. They fill stadiums in days, every show is always sold out (three consecutive sold out shows at a massive venue here in D.C.) Also the ridiculously high record sales, ect ect. So I don't honestly entertain the possibility of it, but again, something that would be interesting. Music industry's a fickle thing, these days...- Coldplay nominated for ECHO Award (German Music Award)
Aw, good for the boys! Also props to Snow Patrol for the nomination. :)- News from the EMI / Warner Music / Parlophone / Atlantic Records shakeup...
I read somewhere (no idea where, unfortunately) that Mylo might have been the last album they were signed for but really I don't remember.- Coldplay @ the Olympics? Any one else gutted?
Also I forgot to toss it that I found the Brits (and all British award shows) FAR superior to the Grammys. IDK I just enjoyed it more. American award shows can class it up but they're very tacky and stupid at the same time. Chris Brown preformed there, for chissake.- Coldplay @ the Olympics? Any one else gutted?
Heh, don't mean to stuff my nose in. I think they would be great for the Olympics, honestly, and a better chice than Blur (don't get me wrong I love Blur a lot, too). IDK I head a rumor somewhere that they might be recording a song for the Olympics (though not appearing) or something. Though I'm not annoyed. They'll be in the US or Canada and I'm seeing them on that tour, heh. :laugh3:- That was embarrassing
Brava! I agree, and what a fantastic analyses thread in general. Just dipping my toes in this thread with some civilized opinioning. :smug: I've been sort of hoping for the next record to go rock and roll as well. Maybe, maybe, they can convince themselves to scale back a bit after two gradiose albums like the one's they just done (I mean 3 really if you can put X&Y through that progression). But I'm not sure how that might play out, just with expectations and their own vision. It's been more than ten years now and there's definitely been an established change from just making good ol' soft rock to now pushing the limits of what they can do with music (both fantastic, IMHO). It's a huge range they've got and sometimes leaves me wondering where things can go from here. Of course, I'm assured that whatever comes next will still be mindblowingly fantastic, as per the usual. Perhaps that's just my Mylo fandom speaking. I personally love where things have gone. It shows a range that you couldn't have expected 6 or so years ago from these guys and it's fantastic. But I digress. I'm not sure how I feel about the level of concepting that would have to happen if they continue this path of elaborately concepting an entire palatte for each new record. Could they, as a breath of different air, scale it back somewhat? Part of me wants (even an EP!) something that really pays homage to their rock and britpop roots while still keeping the level of innovation they've set for themselves. And as I finish up here I realize I'm asking for something nigh impossible (but you never know with the boys!) and saying basically nothing. Ah well, I am talented in talking in circles :rolleyes5:- That was embarrassing
^^^^ Definitely agree. It didn't need to be super amazing and introspective because this was a comedy show (Come on people. they came after Russel Brand, for chissake). I watched it live and found it very nice :D Of cource, you are entitled to your own opinion. :smug: - Post pictures of the gorgeous Chris
