ive got the dcme http://www.martinguitar.com/guitars/choosing/pImages/DCME_f.jpg its probably more like the "durable but still with that martin sound" you were talking about. ive had it for over 3 years now, and i love it. it's all about what you like really. i'm sure chris and jonny's have upgraded electronics. now they use the gibsons though. seems like they improve with each record.

THe first one you have there is correct. the 10/12 deal. it;s like a power chord, only he uses his thumb for the E string with all chords. that way you wont mute the c. hope this helps.
