it's good. I like it. good ol' noel never gets bored of beatles tributes/ripoffs. that melody is lifted from 'things we said today,' innit?
  2. does anyone know the brand of the leather jacket chris martin wears? the one with the hood? thanks.
  3. he's reading anna karenina, innit? or has that already been established? [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anna-Karenina-Penguin-Classics-Tolstoy/dp/0140449175/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1357142521&sr=8-2]Anna Karenina (Penguin Classics): Amazon.co.uk: Leo Tolstoy, Richard Pevear, Larissa Volokhonsky: Books[/ame]
  4. right. there was a latin american tour in 2007 also, and there is a rumoured latin american tour in feb/march 2013 innit? christmas lights was a rare treat. we can't count on anything like that again, but who knows?
  5. right. 2004, 2007, and 2010. if they follow their pattern, 2013 was always going to be a down year. i reckon they'll re-charge their batteries, spend time with their families, and write/record an album. that's been the case, more or less, since parachutes. rest/write/record for 18 months; promote/support (tour) an album for 18 months.
  6. i'd love a link. i've pre-ordered it too, for the record.
  7. this reminds me of when fix you's first exposure in the states was at the end of a tv teenage drama called 'the oc'. i listened to a 1-minute long mp3 someone ripped over and over again, and had distinguish between the song and the sound of someone passing out/falling/dying in a swimming pool on the program. luckily their snl appearance soon followed. charlie brown sounds great, even with the canons.
  8. i think he's playing a martin this tour.
  9. or perhaps you should. my top 5 would not include muse. my personal favourites are quite different from the 5 best.
  10. i've been given the incredibly difficult assignment of listing my top 5 favourite musical acts of all-time. it's truly terrible. i can't get it any lower than 15. if any of you are willing to go through the pain, please share your top 5. i think mine would be: 1. the beatles 2. coldplay 3. oasis 4. u2 5. bruce dylan and the elbow arcade radiohead i hate this. on second thought, don't even try it.
  11. 2011 was the better performance. they have never been better, never been brigther, never been bigger than they were saturday night. it announced the band as the biggest in the world, but many already were aware of that. i think 2002 was a bigger for the band's career. to headline glastonbury and to play a majority of your, to that point, unreleased 2nd album is amazing. think of where they were at that point. think of how nervous they must have been before that show. and think of how they had the crowd won over before the bridge of politik, the show's opener. truly incredible. it changed the trajectory of the band, or rather, announced to the world exactly where this band was headed. suffice it to say, both shows were massive. these boys are special.
  12. just booked my rental car from paris. see you there!
  13. his best liam impression?
  14. how you see the world
  15. i'm willing to bet a radio station out of rochester ny knows nothing that we don't know.
  16. thanks again. what do you know about renting cars in france??
  17. great, thank you. any idea around what time the show will end on sunday?
  18. i'm an american headed to france for the first time to visit friends and whilst there, i reckon my fiancee and i should attend this show! i'd love some travel advice between paris and arras on the day of the show. what time should i plan to arrive in arras? what's the best site to book a train ticket? do the trains run late enough to return to paris that night? what else do i need to know? thanks in advance!

strongly disagree. i love it. my big mouth, i hope, i think, i know, and the girl in the dirty shirt are all standouts for me. it's too long and too big though, like x&y, which i also love.

interesting points. i find x&y strikingly similar to be here now. on the exterior, x&y and be here now are each band's 3rd album following a critically-acclaimed and well-loved 2nd album. there was massive pressure to produce a big 3rd album, to legitimise their newly found status as england (and world's) biggest band. because of the similarities, it's easy to force other comparisons on each album. largely, the comparisons are appropriate. each band seemed to use the formula of sticking with what worked before and pushing it to (or beyond) excess. the routes taken were quite different. oasis came through band turmoil, rushed recording, and mountains of cocaine to put out a bloated record. coldplay battled self-justification of their success (and probably band turmoil as well, but not to the extent of having to work with the brothers gallagher) to put out their own slightly-bloated-but-not-as-much-as-be-here-now record. oasis were over-confident, coldpaly were probably not confident enough. coldplay were guilty of a bit of over-production and about two songs that should've been b-sides. even so, they're both great records that i've listened to hundreds of times each. what's important is the fact that both albums include really great songs. some of each band's best work come from those two albums. i reckon coldplay could've used the creative advice of mr phil harvey, but he had gone crackers off to australia.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NItwaz0nLJA]YouTube - Elbow - 'Lippy Kids' (Live at Blueprint Studios)[/ame] quite lovely innit?
  22. i've got a very similar one, a dcme. had it for 8 years and it's been fantastic for me. no complaints.
  23. looks like a pierced ear. do you reckon it is?
  24. don't know if this has been put up yet, but i'll post it because i had a bit of a time getting on to their site: 29/08/09 Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning. As of last Friday the 28th August, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock'n'roll pop group Oasis. The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new. I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who'd paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I'm afraid it's all I've got. While I'm on the subject, I'd like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise - although I don't know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren't up to it. In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I'll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories. Now, if you'll excuse me I have a family and a football team to indulge. I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a fuckin' pleasure. Thanks very much. Goodbye. NG.
