Ghost Stories, release date: 19 May 2014
Random thought: Coldplay has two categories of songs. Those where the title is repeated over and over (Paradise, ETIAW, Magic, etc.) and those where it's not (Viva la Vida, Clocks, The Scientist, Midnight, etc.) - either not mentioned at all, or not much. I think in general the ones where the title is not repeated over and over (a trick to make people remember) has the deepest and most interesting lyrics - the others are generally more... anthemic. So on that note I think Ink will be a great song, because there is no way Chris can do a Paradise on that title. O also, possibly Oceans. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another's Arms
Okay so I am late to the party but I have to say I absolutely LOVE Another's Arms. I watched the non-HD first and thought wow, this is special. Then I watched the HD and I was moved to tears! This song is really beautiful and I don't care about the lyrics. The buildup, the Johnny awesomeness, that woman's voice, the mellowness of it. Everything. Best Ghost Story so far. \o/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

LP6
Don't want to get false hopes up, but my impression is that they're well into the stage of recording and that the overall idea of the album is decided. Based on what the band members have been saying, and well, intuition. Maybe the reason they're more quiet is that they felt MX was over-promoted, and want to go a different route this time. Perhaps releasing without prior singles and announce the album relatively late as some have speculated. Pretty much everybody seems to agree that the album will be released mid-2014 ( it's close! \o/ ) and that we'll have a late-2014 tour. I really hope these rumors turn out to be true. Planning to go see my first CP concert with my family, and I just. can't. wait.

LP6 Name and Cover Art Ideas
People are talking about three ideas here: Trilogy Progression in time Album name length pattern I really like these! Parachutes, AROBTTH, and X&Y is one trilogy. VLVODAAHF, Mylo Xyloto, and LP6 is another. Trilogy 1 shows a progression in time if you look at musical style and cover art. Maybe trilogy 2 (if it turns out to indeed be a trilogy) will show the same pattern too, which I think would be really cool. LP6 being about a post apocalyptic space age is a pretty cool idea too I think. Many fans say that Moving To Mars, which revolves around exactly that theme, is the best song of the MX era. So maybe MTM is the frontman of LP6? :-) So if we assume that the name length pattern holds true, maybe the name of the album will be something like: When Man Has Destroyed the Earth. Maybe I should make an album image with that. :-) I'm so excited about LP6.

Interestingly, in Us Against the World, Chris does one of his highest and one of his lowest notes. The low one is "It's us against the world". The high one can be heard clearly in this live version at 25:22: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVsBeoVKq3U]Coldplay - Full Concert (Radio 2 In Concert, 2011) [HQ Audio] - YouTube[/ame]. In the studio version it's very hard to discern whether it's an instrument or Chris producing the note, but it's there around 3:18. I actually think it's Chris, but that might just be me.

It has a great balance between being very unique and also contain familiar bits and pieces. It's a bit like Clocks, too. A complex melody but you don't notice when listening to it, it's just beautiful. Just found a pretty good piano version of Clocks which illustrates it: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQgQ78fKmj0]Coldplay - Clocks - YouTube[/ame]

Comment from a friend who didn't know this is going in Hunger Games: "It's really good. It could totally go in a movie."

Just noticed that a snippet of the bass riff sounds a lot like this bit in Paradise: (bah-dah-bam!) Awesome!

Hey, I'm relatively new on the forum and have just been mostly lurking. Just heard Atlas in full for the first time, and I agree with you guys, it's absolutely awesome and does not need time to grow on you. Really beautiful build-up. Not disappointed! It's ok with me if this is a taste of LP6.

LP6
My predictions for LP6 My predictions (and hopes!) for LP6 can be summed up through these songs (one from each album): Spies Clocks Talk Violet Hill Major Minus What do these have in common? Exceptionally cool sound Acoustic Deep, cryptic lyrics (except for Talk) Intensity Add a dash of quiet (U.F.O.) and a dash of happy (One I Love) and we will have a very cool album in store. As Mylo Xyloto was originally two different albums, one acoustic and one not, I think we'll see an acoustic one this time. But I'm sure no matter what they come up with it'll be pretty great as always. :)
