Yeah, I think you can raise and lower them that way. So go for it. But don't blame me if you fuck it up. :P

I did that a few days ago and i don't think you can screw your bass messing with the pickups. I THINK.

I fucked mine up really bad cause now my guitar dont work with my amp! just be real careful
