People actually think that???

Yes. :| also a lot of the older generation mods think us young/new generation mods are doing it wrong. They have this fucking "rule book" in their heads I swear, IT'S ABOUT BRINGING SOMETHING NEW TO THE SCENE AND AFTER ALL MOD IS SHORT FOR MODERNISM NOT OLDERNISM

That's for weekenders, lol.

So how do mods dress nowadays anyway?

It doesnt even happen at weekenders these days, theres more conflict between ourselves than with the 'rockers'.

Well, as a 'modette' I usually wear button up shirts tucked into a skirt, the shirts are normally pastel colours or contrasting/colour blocking colours, usually with a pair of black or brown brogues with white socks. I have 3 Fred Perry shirts which I also wear either tucked into a skirt or with a pair of cigarrette trousers. I wear a lot of dresses, usually a-line (this is a style of dress, look it up if you dont know), again colour blocking, i like peter pan collars on a dress, i know a lot of the modettes i know love peter pan collar dresses. When it comes to hair, I have short hair these days with a full fringe (a.k.a bangs in US apparently), straighten it a lot to be honest, curly hair doesnt work if youre a mod, Roger Daltrey said so himself . Sometimes on occassions I get my hair into a small beehive.

The mod-men, that i know or have seen, are always dressed smartly. I know a lot of the younger mods wear Fred Perry polos with Levi jeans and goldhawks or brogues, some wear DrMartens (but thats more the skinheads than the mods). When they're off out on the scooters you'll often see them wearing a Harrington or a Parka. The faces (top mods/best dressed, best dance moves, smooth talkers) are normally in tailored suits, stereotypically with 3 buttons. Always looking smart. They wear Ben Sherman shirts often these days too.
