That's a really tough question...I've read so many amazing books. I'm a Harry Potter fangirl, but the best book (in terms of writing style, story, message, literary merit, etc. :P) would be either The Book Thief by Markus Zusak or The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

(My parents are both teacher librarians, my mother also owns a bookstore, and I work at that bookstore. So I read a lot.)
