December 2, 200421 yr Yes he was. He came to Halifax, NS to make a speech today. And while he was at it, his team held up the bus system and made me late for class. :P

December 2, 200421 yr Why would the USA president visit Canada? Um... many reasons, for one Canada is very much affected by what happens in the US. He is trying to show good public relations by coming here.
December 2, 200421 yr Author Wellll, he came here to thank people for being good citizens during 911. A little late for that, but it was a nice gesture. :P Anyways, there were a few thousand people out protesting but I had better things to do.
December 2, 200421 yr I didnt catch any of it on the news unforunately I worked all day. Were the protests violent?
December 3, 200421 yr Author Naw, they called themselves the "polite protesters". The police didn't have to do any riot control or anything apparently.
December 3, 200421 yr Why would the USA president visit Canada? Because Canada and the US have traditionally been good allies and partners. It's only recently hit rocky roads (well really, it's only rocky whenever there's a Republican president, Democrat presidents however, always are welcome). It's tradition that the first visit out of the country by an American president is to go to Canada and speak to the House of Commons, which President Bush didn't do. Eh. He's only visiting now, four years after he's been "elected", so that's why it's kind of like a big thing. As well, President Bush is trying to push his whole "we must bring the war to the terrorists" schpiel, and he's kind of using Canada as a testing ground to see how it goes before he brings it the European community, which have even more significant reservations.
December 4, 200421 yr Author :stunned: Is that how they protest in Canadia? :stunned: :idea2: Yeah, isn't it disgusting?
December 4, 200421 yr lol, actually i loved it! i like that people were speaking out! :guitarist: Oh Canada...
December 4, 200421 yr Democrat presidents however, are always welcome. because democrats are whores :idea2:
December 5, 200421 yr A bunch of my friends took the bus down to Ottawa and protested there. One of my friends is doing an amateur documentary and she showed me her footage and it was funny. There were a lot of kids there with their parents and a huge group of old ladies who are social activists. They were hilarious.
December 6, 200421 yr Yeah yeah yeah, the Raging Grannies! They're a riot in themselves. I didn't think old retired people could be so amusing...but they are....
