I just want some stimulatiing conversation here. I mean, the internet is supposed to bring people from all over the world together in an exhange of ideas and opinions, to open one's eyes, for instance.

It would be nice to talk about something that would broaden my views of the world. Religion, politics, philosophy, etc...

Who here has read about Buddhism, Taoism and their Zen forms? Anyone?

ive taken multiple IQ tests and they all come out with randomness...Took the BBC1 one on the TV the other year, got 128, took 1 online got 144, took another got 138...it's all down to the questions in each case...

The BBC quiz was good tho, as it was live on TV and you only got 30 seconds to answer, so you didn't have time to just think...also it seemed the highest score possible was like 140 on the quiz, they weighted it with age...so the extremes (very young/very old) scored higher for the same questions than those in their prime (ie me) If i was like 14 or 60 I would've got 136 for the quiz.

In light of some recent posts here, I've begun to believe that the world is getting stupider (is it not true that this board is a microcosm of society? At least, the developed world).

So, who's up for some intelligent discussions? Or will this thread crash and burn like so many others.

Who has some topics?

yes..i would have to say that the world does seem to be getting more stupid…strange…we have apparently ‘advanced’ in so many things yet things are getting worse. In a way we have become intelligently stupid. The human race has created more intelligent ways to be stupid. Ingenious methods have been created, and are currently in use in a lot of ‘developed nations’ , to restrain and manufacture consent within a society. However its not totally the fault of an individual, yes they have a responsibility for educating themselves but look around……almost everywhere we look stupidity is encouraged but I do believe we all have the capacity to be intelligent.

The meaning of life?....hmm…well one could argue that the meaning of life would be to reproduce…and maybe this is so, biologically speaking..however if this was the sole reason than humans would be more efficient at it, as in: why would an infant take so long to mature compared to other creatures.

In my opinion, the meaning to life, on a social level, is to have the ability to initiate responsible actions which leads to responsible outcomes.

whats ur opinion?

I don't like to think about 'The meaning of Life'. I usually asky myself things about literature, and physics and history, but asking myself that I think it leadsme to no where.

For me there is no 'meaning of Life' but my own life it has a meaning, of course. For me it means that from the very first day we are not born free, as some people argue me, and that you are almost oblied to go on and on, regardless of wether you wanted it or not................................. and I think I'm writing just rubbish so I will nto write anymore (neither erased it)
