Spies... banned by Chinese Government?

Featured Replies

Is this true?

I was told that Spies was banned by Chinese Goverment when it was released with Parachutes?!!!

Someone clear this up please :D

yeah i heard that coz of the content/topic on spies the entire parachutes album was banned in china

It was just the song Spies, because supposedly it is "Politically sensitive". Coldplay can do concerts in China, just can't play Spies.

Sounds like the Chinese are trying to cover something...

I guess it's because it arouses suspicion that the government actually does have spies watching everything. o.0

They cause just the opposite of what they want. They don't want people to hear this song, cause the people might think that the government have spies watching everything?

What the hell do they think people will think when they ban this song? :dozey:

im sure chris said in a interview that the chinese gov claimed spies had a bit that said 'free tibet' when played backwards

no shit lol jeeze. u learn something new everyday

I just sent a Q to Debs in the Q&A. Hopefully she gets back to me

It's true that it was politically sensitive :)

I want to agree with this statement... :) but Spies isnt even about 'real espionage' (or so it seems) I am interested to see what Debs says though... :)

I just sent a Q to Debs in the Q&A. Hopefully she gets back to me

Hopes she answers it. I remember seeing a few questions about it I think.

well i'll be damned lol. i did a search in the Q&A (should have done that before I submitted a question to Debs, but oh well, she'll get over it :P ) and sure enough she has said before that it was banned in China because of poltical sensitivity. I wonder exactly how that was done?

I saw Debs answer in q&a... answer: political sensitivity..

OR it's because the USA and Britian is a billion spies over in China, and they can't touch them no, cause they're our spies :P :P :P

I didn't knew it, that's so wired. xD

Look what I found ! This must be one of the copies from China. In the tracklisting Spies isn't there, Careful Where You Stand is in its place! And on the CD is some Chinese writing if you look closely.

careful where you stand should have been on parachutes anyway, its their best song!
