Pemj
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4606197.stm I know this all overly serious and all, but seeing as coldplay are such strong figures in such campaigns as make trade fair i think it's relevant that it's brought up. The UK Chancellor Gordon Brown has put foward a bold plan to tackle poverty in Africa ahead of the G8 Summit of rich countries in Scotland next month. But the plan is facing opposition in the US - and particularly from President George W Bush. So with the G8 (and live8 :D ) summit coming up, we have a chance to take an active step in diminishing african debt and actually improve the lives of millions. I find it so hard to even comprehend that anyone, particularly a world leader would oppose these plans. Yet it looks as if it's happening. What i find most absured is the reasoning: Mr Bush said on Wednesday that a key part of the plan did not fit with the US budget process. Now, we have the most powerful country in the world effectivley refusing to help the poorest parts of the world. I don't understand it :( Things like this really make you question the human race. Anyway, whats everyone elses thoughs on this? In the words of Chris Martin: Be positive about the world, there's only three more years to go Three years too long.......
