Do you Perfer Live/Studio (x&y, AROBTTH, Parachutes)

Featured Replies

i first heard the live versions then got used to them, then when i heard the studio they sounded wierd.. so i guess i perfer live!!!

mainly studio, but some of the live versions are good as well. Moses is incredible live, as are some of the other b-sides. i also enjoyed the version of FIX YOU that coldplay played on SNL better than the album version.

exactly....i have compared the fix you to the others i have and none compare..then i hear the studio and it is missing alot of oohh's and ahhh's.. the snl fix you is the bomb

not to take anything away from the albums... but coldplay is one of the few bands inwhich the songs sound even better live... it's like improving perfection

I prefer them all studio. Though some live versions are cool, the crowd is annoying and they just aren't as clear as I'd like them to be.

i like live music, love live music actually. i actually like the crowd singalongs in live recordings, cause i'm always one of those annoying wannabe chris martins in the crowd with every song

^ Same here. Though I think with X&Y they've shattered that perception... The songs here are all meant to play live, and I think they sound better live because the raw energy and emotion gets through and there is less clutter :D I used to think they were a studio band (i.e. sound better with studio recordings) though I'm no so sure now... Their live playing has improved by leaps and bounds, it's their most improved aspect I think!

It's also got to do with the way they play their songs differently live. Listen to original studio of One I Love and the Live 2003 version, and the difference is astounding.

I love them both live and studio, its hard to decide. I think I would have to pick live more, not recored mind you but actually being there, there is nothing better. I have every show I have been to on cd except one which is obscure and has never been made available, Cleveland 2003. I love listening to those cd's because I know that one of those people screaming and singing along in the background is me. On the other hand, their studio stuff is amazing to listen to when you just want to hear the songs in their original highly produced way.
