May 31, 200719 yr plus you can keep in touch with your friends by sending them emails, txt messages, you can call them and meet them. You don't need this myspace for a fake feeling of being popular. work in a call centre, so can't call or text people whilst working. don't have access to email at work. myspace, facebook, lj are all ways of keeping up with friends. as for meeting up with friends, its a way of planning meet ups. i don't use myspace to feel popular, as can be seen by the fact that i still have under 30 friends on there (come to that, I don't need to feel popular either, am quite happy with a select group of friends). i mainly use it to keep in touch with people i already know in real life but can't meet up with as frequently as i would like to.

What I can say is that I rather got in contact there with people from my grade than in "real" life....because on there they got to know a bit about myself (which music I listen to etc...)....they are some of hese people I actually never had to do anything with...but myspace helped me to get to know them a bit...I know this sounds rather lame...but it's true...I must add here that I'm a rather shy person when it comes to get to know people...esp. the ones you always think they don't like you (although there is no reason...but yeah that's me and my way of thinking)...so for me it was a good way to get a bit in contact with others....and to get to know them a bit...;) (how often did I use "get to know" now?)
May 31, 200719 yr Here's mine. http://www.myspace.com/traciemorgan And here's the one for the Coldplaying Charity Club's benefit album. http://www.myspace.com/howweseetheworld
May 31, 200719 yr Myspace is dandy, if you live in a place where people understand computers. So I've only actually met two of my friends on Myspace. o___<
May 31, 200719 yr I find facebook is actually more user-friendly than myspace, at least for talking to my actual friends.
May 31, 200719 yr Facebook is so much better. I think its alot cleaner looking than myspace. Myspace can get really cluttered.
May 31, 200719 yr it annoys me when people have it on private It annoys me when people assume I have no reason for having it private. I write my blogs there and I like to be able to have a choice over who reads them. By putting my profile on public, people I don't like and people that don't like me can read what I say or find out about me and share my moments and thoughts. And I don't want that. If you're so damn interested, add me. It wouldn't be in my sig if I didn't expect anyone to want to look.
June 1, 200719 yr Facebook is so much better. I think its alot cleaner looking than myspace. Myspace can get really cluttered. Facebook is turning into myspace, which is annoying.

What I can say is that I rather got in contact there with people from my grade than in "real" life....because on there they got to know a bit about myself (which music I listen to etc...)....they are some of hese people I actually never had to do anything with...but myspace helped me to get to know them a bit...I know this sounds rather lame...but it's true...I must add here that I'm a rather shy person when it comes to get to know people...esp. the ones you always think they don't like you (although there is no reason...but yeah that's me and my way of thinking)...so for me it was a good way to get a bit in contact with others....and to get to know them a bit...:wink2: (how often did I use "get to know" now?) interesting, well yes, it's good to use some sites for meeting new people and finding those with the same interest. I understood you when you said myspace helped you to get to know them a bit, but the problem is when you keep talking to your schoolmates only through internet. Because, in my opinion, if they talk to you only over myspace, msn ... but not in real life (if they're people attending the same grade), it is not worth bothering about them so much. however, don't think that I want to be rude, because I really don't want to; and I respect your opinions, although they won't really change mine ... but you indeed gave me another point of view.

June 1, 200719 yr ^He only gives his opinion. And, honestly, I agree. I made it private few times ago as well. I'd say it's a matter of safety (even if through the web, "safe" doesn't have any meaning...)and of privacy, as he said...
June 1, 200719 yr Everyone I know uses facebook... so I guess I'm stuck with that, even though I almost never update. I prefer posting in livejournal. I've thought about setting up a myspace just for my online stuff though. But then it's one more thing to look after.

Myspace, Facebook... all good means of keeping in touch with those who are near or far. :)

June 1, 200719 yr i think myspace is, allright. its cool for keeping up with friends around the world but it does annoy me when people 'collect' friends like have 2000 friends, when they actually only know 2 in person i wont friend request someone unless i know them in some way, its just weird otherwise. and private profiles is the way to go. you should be able to decide who gets to see your info and read your blogs. i also think myspace is very cool for up and coming musicians. massive exposure which is good. it provides a vehicle for their music to be displayed which is very cool.
June 2, 200719 yr same here! these sort of sites make me sick... I can never understand why people like them... It's all bunch of bored, silly and naive people.. thinking that they are cool and wanting to feel like celebrities or important with douchy comments that other people post on their pages and their photos. note that they have to return these comments as well... It's all so absurd IMO and I really can't get why it has become this huge phenomena amongst people and from all ages. hehe, I guess i got a little carried away.. but It really gets on my nerves. I only really use myspace for uploading my songs and seeing if people like them, to get feedback for the ways i can improve my music. I dont really use my original myspace accout anymore, I prefer facebook, which keeps me in touch with old and current friends. I think its wrong for you to say everyone who uses myspace or other similar sites are "all bunch of bored, silly and naive people.. thinking that they are cool and wanting to feel like celebrities or important with douchy comments that other people post on their pages and their photos." If it makes you feel sick then fine  ... but don't put us all into one catagory. I find facebook is actually more user-friendly than myspace, at least for talking to my actual friends. Ditto. But yeah here's my myspace for my music (if you're interested): www.myspace.com/waxylandscape Its fairly new, so feedback always welcome!
