me we don't have a dialect...so it's just two languages for me :)

As I live in a bigger city where everybody speaks german normally I couldn't learn low german from all-day life... and I see my grandparents not very often so I'm not very into it ;-)

Too bad, that low german is dying - it's pretty cool actually.

but i'm glad at least you preserve your own language...

because here, people have a knack for changing the language as they please...today, nobody can even speak straight filipino. most people speaks taglish- or a combination of tagalog (filipino) and english.

this is not good because young ones are exposed to this new language that they would forget how to speak filipino correctly. :/

It's the same here....many english phrases are used in german nowadays

^yeah, i just wish it would not deteriorate our respective languages...it's sad to see one day that we could no longer recognize them as our own

those guys are called here "Bavarians" ;-)

why is that felix?

Because they still refuse to speak correct german ;-)

oh and I just realized, I understood this sentence wrong... nevermind

Yes it is and it is not fair if you consider the other areas they try to speak correct german and the bavarians just keep their dialect if you understand it or not!

seems that they don't want to converse with others not speaking their dialect!

I don't know....the bavarians are a proud people.....they want to have their own country!

Well, you better don't generalize these things.

Many bavarian people, especially the younger ones, stick to normal german and are very cool.

:stunned: I know more people from the Philippines than from Bavaria!

:idea2: I forgot Theresa!
