i got into HIM and Nightwish a few months ago thanks to my sis

who found out bout them on the Coldplay messageboard.

i've been trying to convert people i know but haven't been very successful. :rolleyes:

My two friends are obsessed with these two bands (as well as Children Of Bodom, Sonata Arctica etc...) and Norway/ Finland in general. Nightwish has a good singer.

I looooooov Children of Bodom and also like Nightwish. I listen to more metal these days :nice:

i don't like gothic music :confused:

^ i was the same i thought what does gothic music have to offer, i was put off by it i thought they would just be some loud noises strung together incoherently. So when my sis got into them i thought she was either nuts or on drugs :confused:

 

But give them a chance you may learn to like some of the less heavey elements i know i did.

just to say something about the last couple of posts Nightwish aren't gothic...metal music and gothic music are really different. there's gothic metal and all, but the seperate styles are REALLY different. Siouxsie and the Banchees(sp?), Switchbade Symphony, Christian Death, etc are gothic and Nightwish is a type of melodic metal....

 

now Rhapsody to me is a seriously amazing symphonic metal band

i don't think HIM is gothic, i mean they didn't describe themselves as such in the past- they made their own genre - Love Metal- i don't know about now, they may change that especially since they are hitting the US market.

Went to their concert recently and they RAWKED ;) pretty funny mixture of people that went- everyday looking, emo, full on goth (some guy with the crow make up and one that looked like maryln manson) and metal-biker guys lol .
