Well it's the same as if YOU write "Turkeys" and people think you're prejudiced because of it.

It wouldn't be based on any FACTS, only on SUPPOSITION. That's what's happening here. Exactly the same.

Well that's much appreciated. We were only having a laugh and there was no malicious intent in the jokes (in that other thread), however it might have looked to some people.

 

You can't start censoring the word "turkey" just because it happens to be the same as another word with a different meaning, however. That would be just plain ridiculous.

It would be just as ridiculous to suggest that a guinea pig would have to be renamed to avoid offending people from Guinea or NEW Guinea.

Or what if people from the town of Sandwich (in England) took exception to the "Sandwich" thread?

If the word had been "invented" as a means of causing insult, it might have been a different matter.

 

If the "Turkeys" thread had just been left alone so people could talk about turkeys (as was intended), there wouldn't have been a problem. Let's hope that's the end of it.:cool:

i think i also made a "turkey" joke some months ago (i saw something like "Bring Coldplay to Turkey and i replied that "bring turkey to Coldplay" but it was stupid, so let's forget this little accident), it had no antecedents or consequences. anyway, i move on. but don't wait that i will appreciate that thread nor insult or provoke you ;)
