André Tanneberger, better known as ATB was born in the small German town of Freiberg in 1973, he and his parents left to find better opportunities for themselves in 1984 and headed for the west. Heir Tanneberger has been producing music since the early 1990’s and is still going strong with a huge and loyal fan base, his first big break came with 9pm (Till I Come). ATB has preformed with several high profile acts and now has a number of gold, platinum and silver disks to his name which were awarded for massive sales in many countries (United Kingdom, Germany, USA and Poland to name but a few). ‘Marrakech’, the standout 2004 track taken from the album ‘No Silence’ was an international club smash hit, so much so that it attracted the attention of film producers in Hollywood and was used as the title track for the 2004 film ‘Mindhunters’.

André doesn’t limit himself to just the music production, he has previously had a Modeling contract with H&M and has recently set up the SEAP, a school dedicated on teaching young producers the know how of music production. ATB, Woody Van Eyden and Rudee are the tutors, spaces are limited and the course is in huge demand.

ATB got his very first break when he met Thomas Kukula at the Tarm Centre (Germany) who was impressed with André’s first productions. So much so that Kukula let André use his studio to finish off some of his earliest music. The first release by André was that of ‘Dance’ under the project name Sequential One, André spotted a Sequential One Pro Synthesizer and named his first project after that. Sequential one went on to produce three studio albums and several maxi singles, which were re-released as “classics” some years later (Woody Van Eyden, Spacekid and Morpha later joined Sequential One). The end for Sequential One came in 1999 when André again took control of the project and re-named it SQ-1.

As mentioned briefly above André never really made his ‘real’ breakthrough until 1999, when 9pm (Till I Come) was released worldwide. It became the fastest selling Dance record of 1999 in the UK selling 270,000 copies in its first week of release going on to sell over 800,000 in the UK alone – worldwide sales of ‘9pm’ have reached well over 1.5 Million. Not bad. 9pm has also been used in several bootlegs, the best known is of course ‘ATB Vs. EBTG – 9pm & Missing’. 9pm has also been used over the vocals of Robbie Williams (‘ATB’s Millennium’) and Gloria Ganor (‘Gloria comes 9 times and survives’).

With 4 artist albums, 17+ singles and a greatest hits collection ATB is now one of the world’s most successful electronic producers. Did I hear someone say one hit wonder…? Thought not. For many artists the ‘Greatest Hits’ collection would signal the end of an act, however ATB is already working on his 6th studio album and the third instalment of ‘The DJ (In The Mix)’. Both albums will be released in 2006 and will no doubt propel ATB back into the top end of the charts where he so rightly belongs.
