Kingdom Of Heaven: Director's Cut *DVD Update*

Featured Replies

KOH was one of my favorite films of the year, so I'm sharing this for other fans of the film and for the many fans of its director Ridley Scott and star Orlando Bloom.

Fox is releasing a director's cut, in which filmmaker Ridley Scott has added 45 minutes to the original's 145-minute running time, making the new cut a whopping 190 minutes. Highlights of the added footage are expected to include an expanded role and subplot for co-star Eva Green, plus lots more romance, action, and character development. It will screen exclusively at the Laemmle Fairfax Theatre in Los Angeles.

Read more from the link above. According to the showtimes, it appears to be screening at least a week (Friday, 12/23 through Thursday, 12/29).

I'm glad I waited to buy the dvd as the director's cut will be released on dvd sometime in 2006 (probably around Easter due to the film's religious themes). :D

A 4 disc DVD set will be released on May 23, 2006 here in the US. I'm sure other regions will get it soon after or even before that date. Reviews of the director's cut at aintitcool and other movie news sites say it's much better than the original theatrical release (which was hacked up just to get the runtime down for more showings). So if you like it already, you'll like the new cut even more, and if you didn't like it before give the DC a chance when it's released as it's suppossed to be a completely different film with all the intended character development and subplots finally included. i'll get it , when it's released here.. :)

What a nobend. Was it not enough to release 2 different versions at the end of last year without releasing this one now? Smacks of money-making greed to me.

I am getting this for sure. I love the original, but have heard that the directors cut is even better! I gotta save money though cuz I'm kinda in the poor house at the moment...
