Whoaaa! I'm too nervous! My band is going to appear on TV for the first

time ever on May 14th, (It's going to air on a small TV station from

our small brazilian town, so, only a few people will see it. Let's say, about

200-500 people.) and I don't know what I should do! I mean, first we're

going to be interviewed. That's ok, there's no big deal here. Actually,

one of my dreams is to be intervewed on a tv show. But after that we'll

have to sing four songs. And here's the problem: We have 12 songs,

but we're not THAT confident in our songs yet, and we would like to

cover one famous song just to make te crowd happy. Then we had an idea.

We heard Coldplay's Barbie Girl Cover and thought that covering

songs can be a really funny thing, so we were wondering if it would be

funny to cover Avril Lavigne's Sk8er Boi? I was even thinking if it would be cool to dress like Avril just to make it even more funny. (You know,

wearing a tie and stuff like that.) You guys think this could work, and

make people think we're a funny band?

 

Ps: Oh, And should I write Maketradefair.com in my hand just like Chris Martin does and talk about it?

l dunno, wearing the sign on your hand is a little sketchy, HOWEVER its good in a way because you are publisizing the view of making trade fair, so that IS A GOOD thing. Whatever you do on the program...be sure to come back and tell us! :) l am looking forward to hearing about how it went! :D

Well, I want my band to be taken serious, But we've chosen a different way. We want to create the impression that we are a bunch of silly guys, cause our music is really, really silly. We don't do serious music like coldplay and radiohead, we are more similar to the ramones, or sum 41 (funny punk bands.). The truth is that i don't sing half as good as chris martin or thom yorke, so i would never cover their songs. That's why i try to make funny songs, do funny covers and be funny on the stage. Anyways, i'll try to post some pics and/or mp3z from my band's tv appearance as soon as i can! And thanks alot for the advice! :-D

If you really want people to remember you then I reckon doing something

naughty would do you no harm. Don't know if you have ever seen The Sex Pistols appearance on a British TV show in the late '70's but they

swore and basically took the piss and it worked - front page news the next day.

 

As for dressing up as Avril Lavigne, i think one of her is more than enough for this world. As Joan Rivers memorably said 'I can't wait until she's 18 so I can bitch slap her'

I dont think anyone will care if you swear and act publicly offensive on a public broadcasting channel, only a few people will get their laughs and you just wont be allowed to get back on the channel.

 

Dont go with the Maketradefair thing, especially if Coldplay are big over there. Its good you obviously want to make things better in this world but for the ignorant viewer they'll just see you as unoriginal (Which is heartless as its for charity, but these are the crowds, oh well) so if you wanted to make a statement pick another charity. Dont write it on your hand, not quite sure how you would get away with it but certainly dont go with maketradefair.

Damn right you are, Reilly. That's exactly why i asked you guys if i should write maketradefair.com in my hand: This would be very good to create the image that we want to our band (we want people to see us as funny, but also p.c. guys, cause that's what we are! :P ), but also, it would be exactly the same thing that coldplay does, so it wouldn't be original. :? Now i'm confused: I agree with maketradefair, but if i talk about it, it wouldn't be creative, but if i don't talk, i'd fell guilty, cause i want people to know about it. Perhaps i should mention maketradefair, talk about their website, but don't write it in my hand. you guys think this is a good solution? :shrug:
