I was talking to a friend fom Berlin and I was just telling him how I felt strange around Germans because they seem so serious and calmed next to me, and people in Latin America in general and I was explaining him my impression of them when he told me that more than being serious they were pesimistic.

 

He told me that for example If the weather was not good, they would say that tomorrow it's going to be worst or something like that, so I told him that on the other hand, on Latin America you are most likely to hear "Don't worry, tomorrow will be better" even though it's very likely that it won't be better.

 

And I thought it was amazing how such, apparently, unimportant comment tells you so many things about them.

 

how does your culture influence you here?

 

I try to stay positive and laugh a lot and just take things lightly because that's the way we do it here. And we always have an answer for everything, even though everyone knows it's so unreal, but we seem to believe it is. And that's all thanks to my culture (well, it plays a huge role)

I don't know even what my culture IS, though. I'm American, and sometimes I feel like I have absolutely no distinctive culture. Like....... Other than the bad stuff, there's nothing special about us. Is there? Or at least I don't feel that way...

 

Oh. Hotdogs. And baseball. And..... uh. I dunno what else. But I feel like in America the only culture I have is that if someone slaps you once, you bomb the shit outta their ass!
