Coldplay in German "Musikexpress" magazine

Featured Replies

"Landeerlaubnis erteilt"

"Landing clearance being given" (is it right?)

It's a picture of Guy Berryman's shadow. ;)

Quick'n'dirty translation:

Cleared to land

At the speed of sound: At the second stop during their endless seeming "Twisted-Logic"-Worldtour in Germany and Switzerland Coldplay invited photographer Olaf Heine for three days near the end of last year to their own Biz-Jet and an exclusive view behind the scenes.

In the shadow of the bass player: As dark as this down-view of Guy Berryman may seem has fortunately not been my trip to the tour of the four londoners. (that one was kinda tough ;-) )

First picture:

Leipzig airport, November 10th. After breakfast, the band and their crew drive to airport. During their little journey Chris and Jonny watched old holiday pictures while Will is tiping endless SMS with his mobile phone.

On the left:

The band travels with his own plane. During the flight from Leipzig to Frankfurt, Jonny plays chess against his computer while Chris is talking with manager Dave Holmes.

On the right:

After landing in Frankfurt (to their concert in Mannheim), Coldplay, their crew and Alison Goldfrapp (third from the right) make a group photo at the airport.

First picture:

Mannheim, Maimarkt hall, November 10th. During sound check you can hear some reggae melodies. But Jonny gets cold and Chris seems to be annoyed. Chris says he made some bad experiences with paparazzis and press photographers. That's why he often looks so unrelaxed.

On the left:

Will Champion is playing football with his crew members. Later he has to go backstage to make some interviews.

On the right:

Coldplay are playing the songs "Green Eyes" and "Till Kingdome Come" right in front of the stage. "Till Kingdome Come" was suddenly interrupted by Chris, because a fan was screaming so loud. "What're you doing, man? This is a quiet song!"

I'm in love with the picture where they're all in front of the plane

First picture:

Zürich, Hall Stadium, November 12th. The four members flew directly from England to Switzerland. Chris is playing piano for an hour with a new melody, who could be part of a new song. During sound check it's not allowed for the local crew to record songs or to make pictures.

On the left:

Jonny, Will and Guy are watching TV (friendly football match between England and Argentina in Switzerland). Chris doesn't like football and asked some unqualified questions to provoke his band members. "Is Pele still playing for Argentina?"

On the right:

Guy and Jonny make some pictures with their cameras.

And finally the last page...

First picture:

Chris wanted to show the important football match between Switzerland and Turkey in the background, but it wasn't possible. So, he interrupted the concet twice to give the audience the new results.

On the left:

Coldplay made some more pictures with their cameras and throw them to the audience.

On the right:

The triumphant concert in Zürich is over and Switzerland won 2:0 against Turkey. I have to go back to Berlin while Coldplay and their crew go to Italy, Spain and Portugal.
