Haha.....................I think it can't be a good topic at the moment because I don't have an instruction for a good topic yet!

Your nickname has to be Reilly, then it's a good and interesting topic.

That's all.

Well...maybe.......but I think if people see that reilly created a topic............they go in there with another feeling...I think with more respect...I think nobody would dare to spam reilly's topics!

maybe, but it doesn't depend that you Reilly or not you need a good theme, that's enough, but if you look who discuss all these Reilly topics you will see the same names in my opinion

  • Author

Yeah........true.........I think people who take part in his discussions really seem to admire him..ot maybe he is for them really a respect person..........and I think I'm definitely not a respect person

you don't need to be a respect person, just visit the topic if you like it, discuss,if no don't.i'm not discussing every topic only in which i'm interested

  • Author

Yeah.......you........but for me it seems as if people like to visit more his threads........maybe it is because he can express himself better than eg me!

it's not true, you just need a bit of fantasy to create topics :)

Reilly's threads inspired me to start them, but actually i disappointed cause not every was good :/ my fault

p.s. sorry Jules i have to go :( see you later :)

Julia my dear... just be yourself, i'm sure there are moments that you feel like talking about something... there you go... that's your thread!!!!!!! ;)

I sure am getting discussed a lot today haha :stunned:

Julia I'll write some interesting idea's on what I think makes a good thread, maybe later tonight.

Sometimes a good thread can be hidden by a shield of, like you said, not being expressed properly. So really, thread's that could be good and appreciated by many, aren't, because they simply didn't understand it or it didn't catch their eye.

You have plenty of respect on here Julia, so it's not that ;)

I wouldn't know how to give you a good advice, all my threads die fast

OK here's my Official Handbook on Creating the Perfect Thread :idea2:

Actually, I dont really know how to create perfect ones but I'll do my best :/

-Ensure people can relate to it

People wont click on a topic or reply to one if they dont relate to what's being discussed. So if you have an idea for a topic, firstly think: "Is this the kinda thing people on Coldplaying will care about?" Because that is the more important thing. I go on a few other boards sometimes, and make threads there, but they are completely different people and I know that different style of threads will be better for them, then for here. So, you really just have to know what people could be interested in talking about.

-The title

Very important, just like naming a movie or Coldplay's albums. Sometimes titles can work by being straight to the point, like Maiu's title: "Aids". This is straightforward, but other times you cant get straight to the point with a few words, so you'll have to name it something that may not be completely relevant to the topic but still looks interesting for people to click on. I decided instead of naming my recent thread about what you would name your baby, instead of lame 'Baby Names' I chose a lyric from an Arcade Fire song 'Then, we tried to name our baby..." the lyric continued inside. I think more people saw it that way.

-Controlled Depth

Now the essay part of the actual topic comes into play. What I do, usually, is make an initial question that is posed at everyone to reply, and then give a few paragraphs explaining my opinion. I usually end up droning on and on, so I simply delete the crap that I wrote too much about. I try to make it just short and sweet enough so that people don't get bored of reading it, but of course my main opinion should be within it, along with considering other idea's. In some of my topics people are like "You are confusing, your first paragraph completely contradicts the opinion of your 3rd" or whatever, and that's because I include some other people's opinions or other opinions that I might have, its not very complicated.

-Take chances

Dont over-think making a topic. It's just a funny little messageboard, not every topic has to be completely thought-provoking. My topic 'Whats Under Your Bed?' got a LOT of replies (still going I think) and when I first thought of it, it didn't seem like a great idea or anything, just a neat and simple one that people can relate to. When I see other people make topics like that, I find it way more impressive then anything super-deep and theoretical. Dont be afraid to try topics like these, sometimes they are the most entertaining.

-Be there to keep it going

It becomes clear when a thread dies and the topic poster post's ANYTHING in it to keep it alive, so make sure you are there just after you've posted it to reply to people, even if you don't feel the need to really reply. Obviously sometimes you can respond to people if you agree or disagree, but sometimes you'll find nothing to reply to in 10 people's posts. So just post anything, to keep it going, make it over a page or 2 long, and then let it grow.

-Make it light-hearted

Even if it's the most serious topic, try and leave it so that it isn't intimidating to read. You should try to evoke opinions from people, and the best way to do that is to leave it open minded, make sure your opinion doesn't dominate the idea of the thread, you can leave that for later ;) hehe.

That's my advice Julia, so go get em tiger

The perfect thread = Any thread that ist a name or a game thread

i'm honored to be mentioned on the handbook
