SwallowedNtheSea
Hey does anyone know the story behind the song What if? It's a sad song that sounds so simple - just looking for info. I think it is about a new relationship, one person wondering what if things should not go well, should they end the relationship before it goes anywhere...etc. The what if's????? icelandic_fan
I love this song and it is actually my favourite to play on my piano (except for Amsterdam). It is a lyrical masterpiece, so full of wondering. My favourite part: "Every step that you take, could be your biggest mistake. It could bend and it could break (reffering to KEANE? :D) thats just the risk that you take."

Sienna
^iceland is so beautiful...plus i love the language!!**goes to listen to sigur ros** i have no idea why chris wrote what if, but i do know, that is one of the most x&y songs. i see the song as a constant wondering characteristic in a relationship of any kind. what if this, what if that? saying how disatrous it would be for it to end. what makes the song even more puzzle-like, is the fact that, he also wonders about other things such as time(which does exists), reason(which acompanies logic), wrong vrs. right, etc. so, in a sense he is saying....what if things go wrong, or most likely, could things ever go wrong?(did that make sense) :stunned: what if is such a great song, and i can relate to it in so many diffrent levels...:bigcry:

Ryujiki
I guess that Chris wrote the song thinking about no matter how important is person, there would be a moment when you have to leave that person. Also he mention the things that could happen if that person take that decision. The music in this song is magnificent.
icelandic_fan
Haha i'm so proud that you like my country :) .. and about the cold here, we are so crazy that every time the temperature reaches two digits (Celcius) we go out wearing a t-shirt and shorts and start talking about sunbathing and drinking Ice Tea. And about the language, if you like it, i could try to translate some Coldplay lyrics into Icelandic if you're interested.

icelandic_fan
Don't get me wrong. It is not like we live in snowhouses or anything. The weather here is really amazing most of the time. In the summer the temperature can reach maybe 25 degrees. The coldest weather i remember was around -20 degrees but that has only happened once so i remember. If you ever visit Iceland make sure you don't miss the South Coast. It has the most beautiful landscape in the world. And also visit Vopnafjörður :) .. my native town and my favourite place on earth. The population is about 700 people and everyone is 100% friendly and it is a great place for tourists. I'm going to sleep. Góða nótt, sofið rótt og Ísland er best (Good night, sleep well and Iceland is the best :) )

icelandic_fan
It's celcius. It's good to hear that you like the icelandic language, but i wouldn't get my hopes high of learning it, our grammar one of the most complicated in the world :D
sumar
The last few days it has been warmer in Reykjavik than in both London and New York. It dosn't really get wery cold here, the winters are wery mild. It ocationally gets below -5°C. And this past winter has been very good, we can't really call it a real winter.
