Music with people around.

Well..........................it's strange...maybe.....but i can't listen to music whenever people are around who are not that ambitious at their music taste....then this music gets on my nerves,.....

I think I couldn't listen to radiohead for example in the living room with my mum or dad around....I really would become mad......

I would turn it off immediately......

I once was allowed to listen t Coldplay in the living room but I hated it.....

I only can listen to this music when I'm alone.....

And I listened to Gomez with my mum,dad and uncle around....my mum became mad and my uncle loved it...hahaha....

well, that used to happen to me very frequently when I was younger... now sometimes it's still happening but perhaps with some concrete songs, which I'm moving when I listen to them and I'd feel ashamed if my parents would see me then... anyways, I prefer to listen the songs when I'm alone, just like you, I think it's better (well, there's another situation, I think I wouldn't mind to listen those songs with another friend who liked as much as me them! well, there is also another situation too, if I listen the songs in my earphones I don't mind who is near from me either! )

However, I completely understand that feeling... it's just like very "private"...

I prefer to listen to music when I'm alone cause then I can turn the volym up as much as I want but I have no problems with listening to to music when there's people around. I do that a lot at home and my mum and dad like most of the music I listen to so that makes it easyer, but my brother doesnt like my music all hahaha :P too bad for him

i'm lucky that my dad shares my musical tastes, but i prefer to listen music alone most of the times, like when i am working on something and i'm playing a list (said a song again and again like 10 times non-stop), if i would do that not alone everybody will think i'm a :freak:

my cousins and friends don't share my musical taste and they don't put their mood for it :dozey: i don't care much about it, but be mean about my musical taste when i do respect their taste is not fair. :(

once i played a Radiohead album on the kitchen and my mom made me stop it  she said it was too weird. (was Hail to the Thief), yet she didn't allowed me to get a Led Zeppelin poster. :\ but on the other hand she liked Coldplay too :nice:

This is an interesting thread. I think it shows the psychology of people who listen to different types of music - people who enjoy introspective bands like Coldplay and Radiohead don't want to "impose" their emotions on others around them, while people who like cRap music blast it at full-volume with complete disregard for their fellow man.

well, i do feel weird.

especially, when it comes to rather emotional songs i like. i couldn't listen to it with a bunch of people i know around me.

but when it comes to faster and common songs i really don't mind because a lot of people i know like some of the music i like, too. so that wouldn't be a problem at all. i know my mum's into "the mamas & the papas" and i like them too, so i know i can play them all day long. my musical taste is pretty diverse so i always find a certain band or album that the other person appreciates, too.
