Oh yum! well martha is on next weeks  along with the kaiser chiefs  :P

How good was Joan as Police Woman btw?!?!

excellent.... went to the york gig on monday, so amazing, second time i've seen him, he was loads better in an opera house.

Best song: Beautiful Child???? Me thinketh so!

when he and his band stripped down to the underwear it was magnificent, just the strobe coming on and him and his band dancing around like mad things. i thought i was in another world, it was scary, obscure and crazy and thus utterly brilliant! Old Whore's Diet indeed! :D

Yeah it was just fantastic!!!

Beautiful Child was my absolute favourite as well!! :surprised: :D

I have just been browsing the web and came across Joan's website...

http://www.joanaspolicewoman.com

It's worth reading her "about" section to see the endless list of singer/songwriters she has performed with :surprised: !!

And looksie -

It's really her! :dizzy2: (slightly huuumongous - sorry!)

Oh thanks for the link :)

Did any of you guys see the documentary about rufus on channel 4 a few months ago? :) It was really good and insightful. I knew nothing about him before that

Yeah, I saw it! :idea2: Is it the same documentary which is on his new DVD?

It was the first time I had heard anything about him too. My boyfriend had been talking about him for ages so I thought I may as well watch and see what all the fuss was about! Glaaaaad I did :D

It was funny because whenever I heard the name "Rufus Wainwright" I always imagined him to be a huge black man, singing husky jazz...Radio 2 stuff. How wrong was I :dizzy2:

Yeah I wanna get my hands on the DVD soon :)

I just downloaded a song called Hallelujah, had to listen to it to realise what the title means :P

and is not bad

^ BEAUTIFUL song :)

Although Rufus isn't the original artist, he sings it quite well at his gigs

This is on channel 4 again now

I'm going to watch it again to see if I feel any different watching it, after having seen him live

oooh I'm a huge Rufus-fan as well, I went to see him in Paris a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome !! one of the best concerts of my entire life ! and you know what ? I managed to get some backstage passes after the show and met the whole band: Rufus, Joan, Jeff, Matt, and JACK !!! (god, jack, the lead guitarist btw, is soooooo hot !)

well.. RUFUS ROCKS ! and if you like him, go see him live and then you'll definitely LOVE HIM !

Wowwww.... The documentary was so much better second time around, after seeing Rufus live.

Hearing him talk about the problems with his Dad and then about "Dinner at 8" .... the song is unbearable to listen to now! In a good way - if that makes sense?! :( It's just so sad.

I love Rufus :)

I watched the documentary, Rufus is a very interesting guy... ! :cool3:

Yeah, i just loved the way he set his concert out, eg, the family section where he played songs about each member of his immediate family...

Actually i think that Rufus has a very unique personality!!!

and he's one of the Sean Lennon's best friends...i'm jelaous!! :lips:

am really glad i found this thread coz i used to listen to his dad's stuff quite a lot (Loudon Wainwright III, but you probably all know that). "I Eat Out" is one of the best songs lyrically i've ever heard - "I can cook a little but it's not a lot to shout about, it's kinda mean cuisine, so i eat out". Am definitely gonna check out some of Rufus' work now. thanks all !!

Hey Wayne, Good to see ya

Yes - you should most definitely check out Rufus!! If you like his Dad's work, you should listen to "Dinner at Eight". It's about their turbulent father/son relationship. Very sad :( But FANTASTIC!

Hi hayley ! sounds like he's inherited his father's writing ability then :) my fave loudon album that i used to listen to all the time (yet still can't remember the title !) was the one he wrote after his divorce. some really sad lyrics but really sharp and witty too. that's what "i eat out" is about - having to deal with feeding himself. I'll see if i can find any rufus tonight. cheers !

I so absoluteley love this man. I've been to his concert last saturday (26-11) in Amsterdam, and oh, just loved it! (And after the concert.. me and a friend went on the picture with him!:D) He's genious. He's absolutley the most brilliant artist I ever saw perform. I had the night of my life. He's just wonderfull... his music is so timeless.. so exuberant.. so honest.. so great!! :D I just ordered "Want" as a whole album at bol.com, and after that I'm going to buy "Poses" as well. All brilliant. Hehe.. ok, time for everyone elses opinion of Rufus.. :) Your Rufus opinion..??

(I just don't like his clothes most of the time, but whatever.. he's gay:P)

rufus is pretty cool, but i haven't listened to him a lot lately. i listened to him so much two years ago. he's great. :)
