🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
They said in the Higher Power debut chat with the astronaut that it was all allegory so yes, Kaotica has everything to do with their eco views :)

🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
I know we already have the excellent Kaotican generator at arfm.surge.sh, but I wanted to implement one where I could save the image directly and I thought I'd share it in case it was of use to anyone else https://coldplace.co.uk/kaotigen.php

Old Friends - Sunset
My two favourites, in the same order too :)

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
My thinking is that it's just Chris' sense of humour - I suspect it's an album of songs from the cutting room floor from their entire career and Chris being Chris, instead of saying "from the last 20 years" said "the last 100 years" because that's his sense of humour, and that stuck and they ran with it.

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I think you're on to something with that last sentence ... "last 100 years or thereabouts" really could equate to a cutting room floor album.

I'd thought of Turkey too but it's not the same star - it's a 10 pointed star, also known as a Decagram. There's a ton of rabbit holes that open up when you search for Decagram :)

Buried in the source code you'll also find this image: - Probably not relevant but I know how we all pounce on every smidgen of information.

Does anyone know the font from the single cover?
Thanks! :)

Does anyone know the font from the single cover?
Nice :) Looks good! I like the arrow in the I :) Out of interest, how did you do the graffiti background?

Does anyone know the font from the single cover?
I can't remember how to do it in Photoshop off the top of my head and I don't have Photoshop installed here at work so I'll have to wait until I get home to provide you with an answer.

Does anyone know the font from the single cover?
It really depends on the software in which you're using the font. I made it solid because I'll be using it in graphics apps like Photoshop and you can set the text to be outline only. I don't think you can do the same in something like Microsoft Word. It was quicker to make the font solid rather than outline only and more flexible for me as I can use it as outline only or solid this way. If there's enough demand though, I will make an outline only version.

Does anyone know the font from the single cover?
I too needed the font and also failed to find anything suitable on the internet so I took the plunge and, despite having never done it before, went ahead and created the font. It's my first font and is all from scratch so please forgive me if it's not 100% accurate, but I'm pretty pleased with the results. A few notes: - 1) Despite the excellent coverage of the alphabet in the three song covers, the letters B, H, K, Q, X, Z are not present in anything they've released thus far so I've had to make those 6 up. I'm pretty happy with what I came up with apart from the H. As soon as they release further material that contains these letters (Hurts Like a Heaven for a single please!) I'll amend the font. 2) I've only done upper case A-Z, no lower case, no numbers and no special characters. I may add numbers in the future. 3) The font is a solid font as this is more flexible for my requirements. You can use it as an outline in graphics applications but if there is enough demand for an outline version I will create one. 4) I've not done the teardrop, eye nor the exhaust fumes but may also add them if it proves desirable to people. It's free to distribute so share away! Download URL: http://www.coldplace.co.uk/fonts/MajorMinus.ttf Any and all feedback is welcome.

~*~ The Official Will Champion Appreciation Thread ~*~
Will's shirts I don't suppose any of you know where Will gets his t-shirts? The red, white and blue ones all look like the same style so I'm guessing they're not custom made, just jazzed up a bit.

LIT Bad quality on CD!
Yep, mastered too loud. It's a real shame coz it would sound so much better with greater dynamic range. For those that are interested, google "Loudness Wars".

Track Skipping.
No love for Reign of Love? It's in my top 3 at the minute :) A beautiful song! I often skip Viva La Vida and Violet Hill. Viva La Vida just gets a little cheesy for me in the chorus. Life in Technicolor - 10/10 Cemeteries of London - 9/10 Lost! - 10/10 42 - 7/10 Lovers in Japan - 8/10 Reign of Love - 10/10 Yes - 8/10 Chinese Sleep Chant - 6/10 Viva La Vida - 7/10 Violet Hill - 7/10 Strawberry Swing - 10/10 Death and All His Friends - 10/10 The Escapist - 9/10 42 would get the full 10/10 if it were twice as long. It's too awesome to be only 4 minutes long and I feel like the song sells itself short as it is.

OKAY I HAVE TO POST THIS!
Yeah, the time signature changes. The "status quo" bit is 4/4 apart from the last bar, which is 3/4 and then the last section is 7/4 (can be counted as 3+4). I'm really pleased to hear some time signatures other than 4/4. The majority of Coldplay's work has been 4/4 so far so the use of alternative time signatures is one of the highlights (one of many) of Viva La Vida for me. Cemeteries of London is in 6/8, Yes has passages of 2/4 which give it a real nice skip, Violet Hill has a bar of 2/4 here and there too and, of course, the aforementioned Death and All His Friends ending in 7/4. Lots of triplet feel too. Very pleasing :)

The Album To Remember Them By...
Couldn't agree more!! I'd also include Pop and Zooropa in that list. Everyone is entitled to their own taste and opinion I agree and if you only like a certain style from a band that has a diverse catalogue then that's fine by me - although I feel sorry for those that can't appreciate the diversity, you really are missing out. Imho, diversity is what differentiates a good band from a legendary band. I, for one, am absolutely delighted Coldplay have decided to stretch their wings.

As the great Jah Wobble would say ... "No Change is Sexy" </sarcasm>

Viva la Vida (song) = Beautiful...?
Like some others, I wasn't sure about Violet Hill, it took a while at first but now I do love it. I don't think it's a good choice as a single though, it just seems to lack something, dunno what, I think it will be a much stronger song in the context of the album. Viva la Vida however .... it's absolutely awesome!!! Loved it from the first few bars, I think it's incredible. So uplifting. As soon as I heard Brian Eno was working on the new album I felt it would be their best album yet and now everything is unfolding I'm even more certain :) Viva La Vida indeed!!

You can HEAR A Spell A Rebel Yell
I think it sounds like Mothers of the Disappeared too

Violet Hill Drum Tab
Been a while since I wrote a drum tab and this IS a first draft. Please feel free to point out mistakes as there are two or three gray areas at the minute. I did want to get the tab directly in the post but it needs to be a fixed width font and I couldn't figure out how to do that. Any help on that would be greatly appreciated.

Mistakes in Violet Hill
Dissonance IS when things clash though. As to whether that clash is right or wrong, well, right and wrong can only be judged in context of some framework, in your case, the theory you have thus far learnt. My context? What sounds good to me, and THAT clash is perfectly fine for me. There are no universal rules in music, only a number of different sets that humanity has so far devised.

Mistakes in Violet Hill
You must be familiar with the idea of dissonance? All music incorporates varying degress of dissonance, and it's this that is often responsible for the tension and release that contribute to an awesome song. Indeed, in my book, it's largely this that leads to expression of emotion in music. As for the word "priests" coming early, I personally love it. But then, I'm a big fan of odd time signatures and that word coming and 8th early gives that particular vocal section a quick feeling of 7/8 and I'd be extremely surprised if it wasn't deliberate. It gives a great feeling of snatching at the next measure.

Fake Coldplay @ Mathew Street Festival 2006
no we don't have any songs of our own and yes, we do just copy. we jam often in band practice but to be honest Coldplace keeps us too busy to have time to write our own stuff. it's interesting to read other people's comments about our band and yes, even the negative ones. we understand not everyone's happy about tribute bands but please understand that we don't do this just to copy Coldplay and coz we wanna be them. as far as we're concerned, Coldplay's music is awesome and 10 times more awesome live and to be able to play them is an amazing experience. the songs are 10 times better again when you play them yourself and have other band members joining in doing the other parts. there are many times during a gig that certain parts just make my spine tingle - even tiny little things like the single guitar strum in the breakdown of speed of sound and simple but powerful drum fill after the breakdown in Talk, just before the end - you wanna see an up for it crowd at that point - it's a sight to behold. And then to have a gig where you're playing to 200 people who are all equally avid coldplay fans and just enjoy the music and sing every word of every song is just .... well .... hard to describe really but let's just say when you work in the daytime in shitty jobs like we all do it makes life worth it. Not all gigs are good. Sometimes you travel 6hrs to play to a pub of 10 people that couldn't care less. Other times you'll do the same and play to a packed house that just can't get enough of Coldplay's music. We've been all over the country, played at many venues and had some fantastic times on the road. Hell, we've even been to Malta! Twice! And one of those gigs we supported Bob Geldof and met the man himself! Maybe that gives all you naysayers some idea of the things that drive us ;) so, believe me when i say, that's it's not about copying, or wanting to be coldplay or just making money out of it - maybe one day it can be our jobs, we keep dreaming the dream - but it's the music and for the love it. cheers, wayne
