i have a fear of being old, and i think all of you as well. sometimes i hear from 30-40 years old people that they're old and they do everything for the young generation, for the future...ehhhh? does it mean your life ends when you're 30-40? :/

i think not everybody thinks like that, but some sure do.

white hair is nice... in some ways, unless you are in a coldplay music video and you're dancing :cry: oh, the horror... I'm also scared of having a short life...

I can't wait to be old and have my kids bring to me the grandkids that go off and come to tell me of their adventures.

 

And I want to be wise.

I will forever be confused as to why older people are ashamed to say their age and hide their whites and greys.

 

I really can't wait to get older, in the sense that I will have seen more, and done more, and know more.

Life ends when you get married.

 

But seriously, our cultures should respect the elderly more, rather than having the mindset that 'the old people' just get in the way and cause inconvenience.

I don't see people as having a problem with that. If you're talking about being on the road and in the way then sure... but otherwise I don't think people disrespect older people like you're saying.

These days, there are these homes where people basically abandon the old, till their minds rot away. And i understand that under some cases, a home is best for them.

 

Like, if they need special treatement that you cannot provide.

 

But the majority are placed there because family is to involved in their own youthfilled lives to take care of the ones that birthed their generation.

I used to think nursing homes were really terrible places too... but really it's a lot better than living with your family... A LOT BETTER. Go to almost any nursing home and ask the people that live there if they like it... They love being with other people their age. Really I don't think it's a bad thing. I used to feel that way until my grandpa had to be moved to an assisted living place and now I change my mind about it.

I'm really afraid of getting old, I won't be as lucid as I am today and I'll be very selfish of those who are in their wonder ages as right now I am in mine. :(

Arrh...Damn, Nik, all your threads make me feel depressive...Yes, I have a huge fear of being old....When I was 12 I was the happiest person in the world, and now I understand that life is more complicated than just playing Indians in the garden....Yeah it scares me when somebody says that he's 35 and he's old already.I think wtf?I'll be like that in next 20 years?...I'm scared about the future, it's true.The world of adults is the worst thing in the world and I don't wanna get into it.

same here... I'm more scared of getting old than of dying... I just can't stand the idea of not being able to dress up alone, having to go to the hospital every month and starting to behave like a child...

Actually I'm not treally scared of getting old.....don't know I see this in the far future...ok sometimes I think about it but it's not that relevant for me...I live my life now....

yeahhh, cause it's closer... unfortunetly I don't have that issue... but I totally see your point...

And actually ....scared about getting old...well I don't know....surely there could be harder times to come...but i can't imagine that because I lived a great live until now....we always had something to eat....we never had a nature catastrophy or things like that...I have a great family who cares for me....

and maybe you don't deal a lot with older people... I mean, working in a restaurant, everytime older people comes and I see how some of them behave, I say to myself: I don't want to be like that!!!!

well....my grandma is in a home for old people.....she is on the floor where the confused people are....she is also confused but not as much as many others there.....some just go there in circle and say "hallo,hallo"....others are lying in the hall in their beds....and it's sometimes really horrible to go there.....my mum always says then:"Oh no I never want to end like that" she is really scared about that.....

actually I never thought about that...I can't even imagine it...and my mum says that when she was my age or even ten years ago she never thought about this aswell....
