The Manchester Passion

Featured Replies

Last night I made it my duty to go to the Manchester passion, as screened live here in the uk on BBC3 and later repeated on BBC2.

One of the many things, I can say it was something I was glad went too. It was mega mint, it was a musical/play on the story of jesus christ's crusfixtion and resurecrution. It was so good I had to watch it again when I got home on the TV.

The story as I was told and read as a kid was a 21st century adapation, and the idea using various manchester athems, made the mancs extremly proud.

They played tunes by Joy Divison love will tear us apart. this was when Judas betrayed jesus, on the last supper.

Oasis wonderall, and The Stone Roses, the all time Manchester Theme Tune..I am the resurection. To me it seemed that there was more than the reported 6000 perople there. However that could be down to the size of the stage, and the various props, the props being different areas of the existing stauates and monuments in Albert square and on the town hall.

One the best bits was at the end, when Darren Morfitt whom played Jesus Christ was at the top of the town hall near the clock, of which to me was unexpexted when he started singing I am The rersurection... I could not belive how much of wlbert sqare they untilised. it was a good way to tell a story.
