Different view of life!

Featured Replies

Well........in our english class we are currently talking about Shakespeare's play "The Tempest"...maybe you know that one of the protagonists is called "Prospero"....so today we came to a famous sentence ,said by "Prospero":

"These our actors, as i foretold you, were all spirits, and are melted into air, into thin air, And like the baseless fabric of this vision, the cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, the solemn tamples, the great globe itself, Yes all which it inherit, shall dissolve, And like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep."

So......we discussed this speech by "Prospero".....we first came to the conclusion that his view of the world is like this:

we wrote down:

"Just as the actors have vanished into thin air, so will everyone and everything else>>>> Nothing will remain of ourselves, of our lives!"

So.....we started another discussion....about the question:

How is your view of the world nowadays?Do you agree with him?or doesn't it fit in our society anymore?

In my opinion, it doesn't fit in our world anymore...and I think it never fit in the world view...if it was in the 21th century or in the 16th or 17th century....

I mean...there is always something that remains after death....even if it's just an impression in peoples mind....

and in our world today.......there also remains a development maybe in the industrial part of life......

>>> so: the individual disappears but mankind remains!

I also said this in class....but somehow they didn't seem to agree with my first, the impression aspect.....

I can't understand that because I can't imagine that you die and then there is nothing , really nothing left from you......of cours ematerial things....that#s sure.....

but I mean there must be an impression....or memories left by you.....

If not then you must have lived in an isolated world imo.....

what do you think?

Haha...maybe you could take the questions which we had in class!

It really made me thinking...

ey....school can be really useful...I love things like that...that make you thinking....very good thing about school!

I agree in the way that I can't see any way that that could've fit into any time. (16th century or whatever).

As you said there will always be memories of you left behind in the world, you will never be immedialtely forgotten after you die. Your impression on the world will live on.......

And now everyone will live on forever in cyberspace!!:P
