Featured Replies

are sucha lazy asses

a part of them for sure, don't stand them. why don't they go and find a job? eh?

begging for money is terrible...

You can imagine that not all of them can get job.If some dirty smelling man comes and asks for job.....Nobody will give him one.

But I agree, they are lazy. And begging for money is awful.

they can get a job

it's just a question which type of it, depends on some factors. everybody should start somewhere

You have to remeber something.....

Someone doesn't just say "oh, I dont have any money...I'll beg!"

It must be a fairly difficult decision to make, to go and ask for other peoples money. Imagine how demoralising it is.

Maybe Im wrong...

Yeah maybe. But I suppose most of homeless people really think it's easier just to ask for money than go and find a job.I don't really care about them, it's their choice.

i do appreciate somebody who plays music for example and if i have some money i give it

but it's wrong when somebody is begging for money in Jesus' name for example...it's wrong... it's terrible, because i saw some days ago a man who was around 30 years old and he pleased for money. i couldn't believe my eyes! he could easily find a work somewhere and just try to get a life, of course it's hard at the beginning, but life's hard

well...i think we should consider the life they had that led them to begging in the first place.

I think there are a lot of different elements that need to be considered before passing judgement on all of the homeless.

Some may have severe mental problems that make them completely unable to get a paying job, or even function in society like a "normal" person would. I saw a lot of this while walking down Newbury Street in Boston, lots of homeless on the street corners just asking for change. Some looked a little bit retarded, which I thought was SO sad.... :( Really, they have no one in the whole world to help them, this is all they have.... They should be in a facility somewhere to be cared for properly... It's horrible.

Then there are those who aren't actually homeless and just go out each day and make some money, blah blah. People like that are just disgusting to me. They might even have a job, but don't want to buy lunch or coffee themselves. I've seen it happen (you give somebody money, they go to Dunkin' Donuts, then get in their own car).

People have a lot of problems that keep them from functioning properly, or as we see fit. I give my change to the homeless whenever I can. Except for this one time a guy was sitting there without his shirt on and I made some stupid comment under my breath like "Put your man boobs away and you'll get money!" but it was really quiet (I had absolutely NO change to give, too). As I was walking away he yelled "FUCK YOU!!!" at me. That angered me to no fucking end. So I turned around and flipped him off and said "You know what, fuck yourself you selfish bastard. You won't get any charity that way." and walked away. I think he had problems, probably multiple personality disorder or whatever... but still. It just ANGERED me. Not HIM. Just... that our society is harboring that and we all are just accepting it, walking by it every effin' day. It makes me fucking sick.

But at the same time... I was in the mall the other day and I was talking to my mom about third world countries, how people don't have homes, etc. Then a few stupid girls with their thongs showing walked by and said something rude, and I wondered "Is the world even worth saving?" In a capitalist society you're always going to have the haves, and the have nots. It's the only way things stay nice and balanced.

I just don't want to see people write the homeless off so easily. Some CAN'T get a job. Some can. Some won't. Some would, but our society has invisible barriers erected against them.

another way which can lead to this status is:

some naive people are applying for an abroad job (women for example). they go to interviews where bosses promise them good facilities and hell a lot of money. and what happens after? those women becoming prostitutes and they don't have another choice...they're nothing without money, passport...

P.S Lera, maybe you know a movie "Lilya 4ever"

dont think that anyone of them could get a job.

fortunately i live in a country where very few people have to live on the street, begging for many. most of them are either drug addicts or alcoholics.

its not like this everywhere. most of them wouldn't choose to live like this if they could decide. begging for money must be very humiliating for them and most the time they get negative reactions from other people if they even get any.

Yeah, exactly. This movie is just about it.Horrible.

no, i think you can always find a job, it doesn't matter...

there should some actions against homelessness. the governments should apply these people to work, i don't know maybe it already exists.

about 3rd world countries...it's another qusetion...doesn't really fit here

it's anotehr world, unfortunately...

trafficing is a huuuuge problem in today's society.

espec. in my country and neighborhood ones.

see Nik..in my country the standard is very low and it's really really hard for anyone to find job, even if you have diploma. people that are begging here are mostly invalids and rome's-gipsy's with their kids.
