AS THE WORLD TURNS...

AS THE WORLD TURNS AND BURNS.

That is what I was going to call this thread but it had a ... I don't know, sort of a pessimistic ring to it. But tell me, does anyone know what is going on out there on planet earth?

For starters, all the people in India and China want to drive to work in their own cars like we do, and they want all the same appliances and generasl standard of living that we have in the west. Burn more oil anybody?

And then we have the Middle East and the sacred mission of every jihadi who can't get to Islamic Heaven fast enough. And we also have Palestinian proffessionals going without pay for months on end while Suadi Princes make multi billion dollar bids for Swiss banks or something or other? Where is the Middle East, when the Middle East needs help?

Not to mention corporations, which for the most part are the market place equivalent of a physchopath. And they say the market will solve the problem of global warming? And one day pigs will fly?

And as I just mentioned, global warming. David Suzzuki, the noted Canadian sience author was recently quoted as saying that the current debate on global warming 'is like that of a car heading straight fora cliff and the people inside are arguing about how fast they should be going'. Maybe we are too many now for this planet to support. One thing is for sure, Life is in control of us, not we in control of Life. Do we live in harmony with Nature? Or are we at war with Nature.

But all is not all desolation and darkness. I believe in the eternal beauty of all things. When you look at the big picture, anyone capable of being on the internet (ie, living in the West) is living a lifestyle of the Minority on this planet. By far the most common morning beverage on earth is... tea? orange juice? coffe? Try water. Billions of people on this world live on less than three dollars a day. Tens of millions of people are suffering the effects of war all over the world.

But for the Grace of God there go I. I am so lucky. We all are, even those people whose lives are a struggle from day to day. But you might have a hard time convincing them of that. Maybe if they were not hungry they might hear you.

So this is just a place where stroies of any kind may be poisted, real or imaginary. Or maybe something about Coldplay. Or maybe just a snapshot of a moment of your life.

Hey, planet Earth is a lovely place, it's just humans with their arrogance have screwed it up.

But there can still be beautiful moments in your day to day life as I find sometimes.

I Feel Free

Martin Luther KIng was quoted once as saying, " Service is the rent we pay for the space we occupy." I will never forget that. Maybe one day I will even put it into practice. They say that service to others is one way to feel greater love. I would'nt know about that, I'm a Yorkshire terrier.

So I don't want anyone floating out there on the plasma-photonic waveto panic, the world will not come to an abrupt end anytime soon, but I get the creepy feeling the plane has no pilot?

Our attitude about the environment is, "out of site, out of mind." This atittude works well if you are an ostrich or a mole or something of no destructive consequense like man. As the bbc broadcast today, my cast away cell phone, stereo, electronic whatever, gets illeagally imported to China where all the precious metals are recovered. And all the waste is burnt at night in huge open bonfires where all the dioxins, lead and other bio-friendly chemicals re-enter the eco-system not as inert compounds, but as supertoxins carried on a jetstream to a neighbourhood near you?

When are we going to get it? When the last tiger disappears from the face of this world for all time? Think about it, every tiger in the world gone for ever. Five years ago there were less than 5000 Bengal (i think) tigers left in the wild, and as of today they are still being poached.

Or how about the Russian bear hunt. It's very risky, for the bear that is. I guess these Russian hunters must be drunk or something because they have it all ass-backward. What they do is more like an execution. Adult humans pay big bucks for the opportunity to sneak up on a hibernating bear and blow it to kingdom come at close range with a high powered hunting rifle. Grizzly bears are one of a few sentient beings who are fond of watching the sunset. Bruce Cockburn was right, if I had a rocket launcher some son of a bitch wourld die.

Everything in this world is the result of billions of years of endless creation on a planet floating in perfect balance with nine other massive chunks of matter all held in place by the creator and destroyer of life, the sun. Now you tell me, is that a miracle or what?

It is so sad that while this continuous miracle of life and exsistence is given to us all, on a planet that is often more fantsy-like than "rea", sometimes some of us fall so far away from centre that this world more resemble hell than heaven. But maybe if we werer not born into this mortal shell and we were not subject to all things a human can feel, then maybe the purpose of creation would be unfufilled. I have a fascination for old ww2 footage and artwork. The amount or volume of barbarity which man has displayed to other humans is exceeded only by the sorrow felt by those who survived.

And then yesterday we have HAPPY Amadinajad, the current psychotic leader of Iran, on a visit to Germany make a comment about how Germans are muzzled about telling the true story about ww2. Like no Jews were killed Happy? This guy is a bigger threat to world stability than ten George Bushes could ever be. It's on a par with the comment Idi Amin made on a visit to Germany once when he turned to then Chancellor Helmut Khol and asked why there were no public statues of that great German statesman Adolph Hitler.?

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck then it must be a duck. I must rant off now. I must play piano. Yes the wolrd still turns, yes we live another day.

Into these times we walk

with eyes that see no end

to the boundless sea of want

which rules the world today

Think you got it Rough?

There was a painter once who cut his ear off and gave it to his lover and said, " take good care of it." He is also quoted as saying the following in a letter to his brother Theo, shortly after settling in a new asylum and being hounded out of the previous one: "As a painter I will never amount to much now, I am sure of it now."

He had painted over seeven hundred canvasaes at this point and his brother had not sold one until shortly after he wrote the above. He died in the arms of his brother after fatally shooting himself hours earlier. His mother lived to see his genious acclaimed universally after she herself had tossed out cratefulls of his paintings years earlier, to the junk pile.

And I missed the first half of the show! What a bizarre story. And how is this for eerie... he died at the exact same age that Mozart died, thirty-seven years of age. Seven years after or so. It was Frost or Wordsworth who said, "Stranger things happen on earth and in heaven than are dreapmt of in the mind of man. And today a Van Gough will go for in excess of one-hundred-million US. Yesterdays junk is todays art?

Who would of ever in a million years dreampt up such a story? And there are so many of these extaordinary tales of lives like this all around us. The world is such a bizarre place to be localized, so to speak.

On this world there are as many shades of civilizations as there are shades of consciousness in one human beings mind. From heaven to hell we have it all. And what ever reality unfolds is the reality we all are generating with our collective dreams. (I guess?) We in the west are lucky to some degree having escaped the harsh realities of those hundreds of millions of people who live on hope and and a dollar a day. You are what you do? How about you are what you are. So many people in the west have become totally identified with what they do or have that their entire self worth and emotional security is undermined when the expansion of that process is threatened. As in other people wanting a share of their pie. A fine mess you have us in this time Ollie.

So until next time I leave you to ponder the complexities of this universe and remember when in doubt... Campino!

ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD?

The only problem with that scenario is that may be all the time we have left before planet earth passes the "point of no return", with the ensuing evironmental meltdown so sudden and abrupt that we won't know what hit us.

Kind of like slowly being burned to death.

At least that is according to the top world scientists who advise Al Gore, The President Who Never Was! His joke, not mine. And the carbon industry is running national add campaigns in the US saying that carbon dioxide is "life". Life? for a plant maybe?

You are part of the human race,

part of the stars and the outer space / Coldplay

It is the responsibility of every human (creation) to protect the creation of that power which has created all that is. Like actors in a movie, we are never able to stop the action and see that some power is sustaining everything all the time.

We live in a world of fantasy and make beleive. What we wish sometimes comes true, and sometimes what we never dreapmt of becomes our worst nightmare.

Just ask the rerlatives of the latest car bomb victims in Iraq. Or the parents of the kids who were slaughtered in Afganistan today, stopped and executed in cold blood by Sunni madmen. Lunatics beyond the fringe. Car Bombs Sans Borders.

And what if those scientists are right? Maybe it won't be so bad. Maybe we will make a smooth transition to a better environment.

And maybe all hell will break loose. Enjoy what time you have, in any case it will never come again

man, all this talk is bullshizzle.

I suppose it will get worse...

Have I saved the world recentley?

No, and I don't want to try dying either. I believe that when we individually raise our consciousness then the world will be more peacefull, not so much the other way around. Speaking of peace, Mr. Zarqouwi is at peace now, so to speak.

What was this guy on? Turbo-hate? Compulsive decapitatus? Zarquowi has given new meaning to the word gruesome. But there is hope for that region if the new government can flex a little muscle with majority support. I guess? I hope? I would'nt want to live in Iraq even if I were a rodent. Chaos central. Car Bomb Festival Capital of the World. Waging war on civilians and the interior police and not the military, was Zarquowis game, which in the end caught up with him.

And now we have this guy at Princeton University who has developed these gizmos which eat, separate and store carbon. As in 'greenhous gas / carbon'. He figures (they do that at Princeton) that 200,000 of these things around the world would bring the atmosphere into equilibrium in say ten years, whereas as 1,000,000 or so would take us back to the atmosphere say the start of the industrial revolution. If I remember? And then the story goes, we put it back into the oil well deposit it came from deep underground. Or so the theory goes. It could work, stranger things have happened.

I am not desighned to get out of bed at 5.30 which is what I do now, for how much longer I know not.... and I love what I do. But it doesn't agree with the part of me which wants to stay up late and play music. Anyway, I don't want to loose a paw in the veneer clipper tomorrow so this monkey rests to face another day with dreams to fulfill. LIke learnig how to spell.

Huh.....................

Random Natter / Have a Chatter?

I like to think I am more that just parroting lyrics? Some people have a way of saying a universal truth in such a way as it goes to your heart instead of your head. And I have always been drawn to these people, like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, David Bowie, and many other great artists such as Coldplay.

How does one see the trees for the forest these days? Are we living "Kingdom of Heavan" all over again, only this time we use real guns with real bullets? And I wonder if each time has it's own particular spirits who are called to interpret that time for the rest of us. It is a no-brainer?

Coldplay are without exception one of the most electrifying groups in the world today. I was addicted to this music before I first heard Yellow. That's how powerful it is. I was lucky enough to see them for the first time (embarressed) at GM Place in Vancouver on 27/01/06, the 250 anniversary of the birth of Motzart. That place had the roof blown of two nights in a row. Even the entry in the Coldplayer journal mentioned those two nights as in the exceptional category.

to be alive now

and to feel this life

is a miracle created

just for you

*brain fries once again*

Um excuse me,but who might you be???

I also feel very hopeless...

"A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty... We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive."

Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)

Wow epiphany...you have made a lot of good points. I read almost all of your posts and agree with a lot of what you say. I'm writing a theses about the kind of the stuff you have stated here. Soo keep on thinkin brotha!!!

this is a little more optimistic... i guess!!

When I was a kid I went on this huge roller coaster and it blew my mind! And today it's like the whole world is on a roller coaster, you are either on your way up the food chain or you are on your way down the food chain. A little too Darwinian?

I watch the news devotedly (would'nt dare miss the end of the world!) and tonight memorized a few fun figures. Does one, ten, or a hundred people die a day in Iraq? Over a hundred now for three months or so. They will soon partition Bagdad. On both sides you will be killed for being like the people on the other side of town?

If this world is extremely heavan-like in many respects but also very hellish, then maybe we have hell on earth and not up on some pie in the sky? That's not to discount the possibility that there is a pie out there somewhere and it is hell. All things a re posible, but maybe not that?

What do you do when people hate and they want your land. And if they have to "exterminate" you in the process (Akmed ('the joker') Amadinajad), then so be it. What a freaky world we now inhabit. I vote to give Iran the bomb. Would'nt that be a very merry Christmas indeed.

It's a lifestyle and a religion. Check out the bbc clips of daily worship at your friendly neighbourhood mosque in Syria. Goebells would have been envious of the manipulation and deception. What do you do with people who want to annilhate your race. I am not a Jew but if I sympathize extremely.

We are in an almost intractable position, as the shock waves (effects) of global warming increase in frequency and intensity be they extreme weather, drought, environmental disaster or plague to any life form or us, are we also entering a world where hate is the soup du jour and kill your enemy before he kills you is the daily prayer at worship? If God were on my side.....

And then there is the story about the Chinese construction workers who are buiding this huge tower for the Olympics. They left their home towns to do this to help their families. At the end of the project many were unpaid and some of them committed suicide by jumping from the top of the tower they built. Will we ever get it right?

Will we ever see the path to a world of peace? Have you beem heat-waved this summer yet? And last but not least I have to thank this group for some of the most moving music ever created. I have been so inspired by this group to explore my own musicallity. When I play music (and also feel with the music of others) I go to the point of calm, the place beyond disturbance, the land that time forgot. A land of MELODY, HARMONY, RYTHM, COLOUR and FEELING. Music for me has always been a refuge whether playing or listening. Tthis music will stand the test of time. this music is as good as any ever created in any genre.

I ran (t) AgaiN

Are there really eleven dimensions? Do trees and plants communicate with one another? Is the earth really flat after all? These and all other questions on the fate of man shall I answer on this page of silliness.

I am going to set up a political blog somewhere but I do this here because people who are in the groove of Coldplay might also b be agh, for lack of a better phrase and no pun intended, "harmonically / sympathetic" to my feelings about this life and this world.

To me this world is the incarnation of God itself. To me everything is the Face of God. Ok, only when I am feeling good! But really, does it get any better than this anywhere out there in the immediate universe? Tennis on Jupter anyone? This world is not a "random accident". No, this world was desighned to house the incredible miracle of beauty in this universe which we call LIFE.

In fact, some stargazers have detected earth like planets in about 20 different galaxies oddly enough by first looking for a huge "deflector " planet like Jupitier, which in fact (oddly enough) shields earth from some bad asteroid storms which pass by earth every now and then. In the deflection shadow of these huge planets they find planets which are most earth like in all aspects. Coincidence? Or Intelligence?

And in life we have great joy and great tradgedy. And we also have the music to go with it. I will never get tired of listeneing to Coldplay. Every song is a work of art and genious, on the part of all involved, from technician to artist. I am so inspired by this group. Every song is a mini-symphony and every note a mini symphony unto itself (excuse me while I puke). Yes I feel so moved by this music, it is so f...ing moving. And each song is perfection itself, at least as close to it as you can be in this plane of exsisitence I figure egh? it feels sooo good.

And then we have the Middle East thing going all squirrely like nbody ever predicted Hurricane Katrina would be such a sleeping killer? The fog of war? The fog of war? And everytime I see Akmed Imajamhead interviewed on TV (the mini supreme ruler of Iran, just one step below the three wise men who are the brains behind this soon to be nuclear theocracy), I want to crap my pants. The guy is scary with a capital birthday-beheading thank you very much, for your theocractic nightmare. And they want to develop the bomb? Let's all celebrate now, yippee they just car-bomed Israel out of exsistence literally, with five or six 10 megaton atomic carbombs which are all set to go off at the same time. It could very well happen unless Iran is stopped right now. These people talk with God, and God has told them to "roast the Infidels". Don't forget, these peple love death more than life. This to me is not a reasonable group of people you negotiate with.

If I wanted to live in the thirteenth century under theocratic Taliban rule, I would have bought that ticket, but I did'nt. I bought the ticket that goes to the 21st century on the garden of eden I call earth.

To look into the eyes of your lover and see all the stars and galaxies and time that will ever be? A little romantic? (does anyone have a throat depressor?) Why not, we create our own universe by what we think. Our thoughts become smart missiles which drag us by leash and chain through this universe to a myriad of actions collectively known as the "human effect".

And what effect are we having on earth? Apparently all the supercomputers in the world are not capable of predicting what ill happen with this global warming thing.

The British royal society recently stated that an increase of 3 degrees ceelcius was not unreasonable to expect in the next 100 years, double the previous prediction. Good luck egh?

I just want to enjoy the ride as they say. Life is so short and what do we learn? This life is such a miracle and we are prsoners to our fate, until in the end we are, "swallowed in the sea". That song just ended, pretty serendipitious egh?

So raise a little hell,

because heaven is starting to look,

like she was raped, strangled and murdered.

tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow we are one

I sometimes wonder if I would be better off not watching the news. I watch a lot of news and it seems as though the world is not quite right anymore. I guess I should really go start a political blog somewhere. But until then I am here!

What is it with these Islamo-fascist guys anyway? Get over it! Listen to this: (as I heard it one morning on cbc (canada) am radio), in Baghdad, Shiite militias are pulling people off the street into "ambulances", and if there is one glitch in, or even a whisp of suspiscion about, the authenticity of this Suuni muslims "Shiite disguise" then you are one very dead Sunni. They will even go so far as to check the ring tone on your cellphone. If this ring tone just so happens to be a "Sunni rinftone" (La Mere by Bobby Darrin maybe?), then you are shot. Shites kill Sunnis, and Sunnis kill Shites. What is wrong with this picture?

Are we ever going to get it right? Have you ever wondered why you sit in your nice whatever in whereever city or countryside, and not on top of some huge garbage pile in Buenos Airies, recycling garbage for a living? Or maybe you would like to be one of those people in northern Uganda who had there hands and faces cut off by rebels who undoubtedly had "God on their side".

If everyone claims to have God on their side, then what the hell are we fighting for? If you want to see a scary perspective on that particular qustion you may want to go to cbc.ca/docs and look up a title named "why we fight". It's a two hour documentary on Americas slide into the military-industrial abyss, just as Dwight D. Eisenhower sadly predicted it might, in his farwell speech to the nation after two (?) terms as president.

Are we destined to go through cataclysmic change the likes of which modern man has ever seen. Will great tradgedy change the hearts of men?

Are we smart enough to survive ourselves? That is the only question left to answer as far as I can see. Not that I have given it much thought but we seem to always be repeating the same old mistakes. This life is like a grand play which keeps going on and on and on, with everything always changing but forever remaining the same.

Has there ever been an age of man when there was no war? Until then, stay well.
