Sentimental Posessions

Featured Replies

From reading one of Crystals posts (You inspirational gem you!) in another thread, where she mentioned how she has a stone that is special to her for some reason, its interesting that.

Do you have any posessions that arent necessarily useful to other people, but you keep them because they remind you of something/someone special?

I have a few things.

I've got a cinema ticket from a date with this girl who I adored and was sure she'd never go out with me, and showed up at the cinema on the same night as me and my friends, and ended up going to the same movie as me, and sat beside me, and WOOP WOOP. I was like 13, I dated her for nearly a year after that, and she was a major factor in my life for 3 further years (Was a special one to me).

I also have this funny looking white rock that I found in my shoe after an absolutely wicked night on a beach, that was months ago. I wanna keep that.

Haha, I have an old walkman which doesnt work anymore, and its huge and clunky, but a girl gave it to me when I was 8 and moving 3000 miles to another country. Very special gift, that.

My old alarm clock too, which looks RIDICULOUSLY 80s and I've had it since I was, well, old enough to tell time. Like 5. It looks horrid, and people say I should get rid of it, it also doesnt work properly anymore (But I have a funny system with it of being able to tell what time it means) but it reminds me of my childhood, makes me feel safe :nice:

Hm... I have these bands that I had to wear in the hospital that I kept... I don't think I could ever throw them away, heh.

And I have a bunch of stuffed animals that I don't need that I can't throw away because I've had them for so long. :laugh3:

Gem?!

besides the stone..i have a basket full of random messes.

A spool of thread..i sewed my guys favorite jeans one night..and it was a wicked awesome night..watching him happily dance about in his jeans after i sewed em..oh god what a lovely night!

mmm ... a bottle of empty whip cream. a few cd's

a plastic dove that was on a necklace that my gramma gave me...i think i chewed on it once :uhoh: it has bite marks.

some cable wires...the boyfriend does networking ..all these cables at a building we worked on one night..

some other stuff from way back when too.

I'm a complete and total packrat- I have an entire room full of that kind of stuff... movie tickets, stuffed toys, old posters I'm never going to look at again, useless junk from all of the places I've travelled including rocks from most of them, pogs, clackers, marbles, you name it.

I have nothing which is truly sentimental in value which I can think of right now.

well, lots of things I've kept and which remind me some strong feelings

- All the photos that my grand mother had...I've got all.I've kept lots of things which remind me her...Cos I consider her as my mother...

-A cinema ticket (The Island) a film which changes my whole life, my way to see the world and the way to see my life...Well, it makes me more passionate about design!!!!

-A drawing that I've done when I was at my exam ( in french Baccalaureat, dunno the english word...in german, das Abitur...)It was a car (duh!!!!) and 2 of my friends and one of my mother's friend sign on the other side!!!It was on july, 06th, 2004...I'll always remember...

- And a lot of stuff which are interesting me in the shape or the color...

Oh god you'd want to see my bedroom walls!!! I'm such a sentimental person! I hold onto nearly everything from pit passes at gigs to notes my friends and I used to pass in school! :nice:

I have about 3 shoe boxes full of little things that remind me of happy times. I love looking at them every now and again. I hope to keep them all my life because I have a memory like a sieve so they'll remind me of the people who used to, and hopefully will still be, very important to me :)

I know what you mean... I don't have the attention span to keep a diary, and I'm an out of sight out of mind sort of person, so I have 3 or 4 big storage bins and dozens of shoeboxes full of stuff all jammed under my bed. It's the only way I remember alot of stuff. The objects bring it all back.

Yeah, sure I do. A little blue glass dolhpin one guy gave me when I was 14. Oh, what a guy it was... :uneasy:

My Beatles T-shirt which is huge and male but I sleep in it when it's warm and I love it.

There're some more but I don't wanna talk about it :shifty:

mhhh ...

i've got that special teddy bear. well, actually there's nothing special about it but i used to cry when i had to fall asleep without it. that doesn't even have a name. lolz. i couldn't throw it away.

and i've got all my diaries. he he. that's pretty cheesy i know and although i wrote a lot of crappy entries, i still love em. it's so much fun to go through an old diary and read what was concerning me bakc then. but i don't have any special things to remind me of something.

well, there was that day when i was pretty drunk and my friend had tied my hair with her bracelet. i recognised that when i was home already. i can't forget that day at all. so many things happened and that's why i kept that bracelet and didn't give it back. lol. but it broke :dozey:

i have this other rock..i was convinced it had diamonds in it...BUT i didn't want anyone to smash it open (stubborn child) then one day.. I smashed it open with a big ol hammer. They weren't diamonds...it was one of those amyethyst rocks with the pretty purple stones.

They are really light purple (means its not even worth anything) ..But kiddos love the shinys ! :nice: so i kept the broken thing in sock..

I think i used to store stuff in socks back then...because I thought if feet were kept safe in socks..even though shoes are safe enough..then my special things should be safe too.. and as I grew older I liked that false Idea..so i kept stuff in socks anyway..

haha, i used to keep rocks all the time. I had a box of them--and they were all organized :laugh3:. It was actually an old cool tools box, lmao.

i'm not nearly as sentimental as i used to be--my room used to be filled with random crap that i couldn't let go of.

Kids at young ages just have this world of ideas that are different to adults.

and they have these little quirks that belong only to certain ages.

I love to think about the mind of a child and their heart warming ways!

anyway.

Now, at this age..it's just a desperate attempt to hold on to magical moments of our lives.

Memories are awesome!

I love that feeling of pulling out my momento messes and going through this emotional tunnel of old feelings.

I can pick up some old ass rock ...a rock..I say! and just almost tear up.

or a bracelet and remember the happiest, sunniest day of all.

or pick up an old note and wish desperatly to go back in time.

it's all this crazy shit..those memories. good shit though

Thank you Reilly, for making this thread. Tonight, I will look through my old stuff. :)

Hmm.. just a few..

A couple of stuffed animals I'd never ever in my life get rid of just because I got them when I was born and ever since they have been in my room.. They got me through all my not so happy times..

My necklace, it used to be my grandfather's but my grandmother gave it to me when he died, it had a hanger of hers on it but now there's a hanger on there that I got from my best friend for my birthday.. I've never taken it off, I wear it day and night... probably useless, but I'd feel so weird without it..

My diaries.. another really personal thing.. if one day I would wanna get rid of them, I'd probably burn them. Not like they're interesing for anyone who doesn't know me, but it would be so weird for me to think that someone else read all my thoughts...

i have this ring i wear on my right ring finger that i NEVER ever take off, my friend gave it to me about 4 years ago and i've never taken it off. i don't know why though...but the girl who gave it to me is like my sister so i guess that's why it's special to me.

um, i have a program from the night i had my first kiss

i also have a necklace with a single diamond on it that my parents gave me for my 16th birthday and my sister has one exactly like it

i have every single letter that has ever been mailed to me :P and pretty much every note i've passed in school

ticket stubs to almost every movie i've seen, every concert i've been to, and broadway show i've seen...such good memories!

i have school papers from when i was in elementary to remind myself how smart i used to be

a picture of my sister in my wallet

and other random stuff that means something to me :)

I've had that since I was born. First present I ever got and I still take it everywhere with me. Called Nolly. Cause when I was a kid I wasn't sure if it was a boy or girl... So Nelly/Oliver = Nolly. :P

I love it. I think it's unique with the upside down ear. But they might have all been made like that. But yeah... I either get buried with that elephant or my first born son gets it. :D

I have matches :nice:

I have some papers there

oh, and bracelets

Hmm of course, my little mehanicly driven auto(duh, the definition), it's like more than 10 years old.And my Zagor comics.Hmm nostalgia.
