Fanfiction?

Featured Replies

hmmm, I've been pondering on whether to make this thread or not, But I jsut wanna see what people say.

I read a fanfic, a couple of months ago, with Coldplay, (You know, the Chris/Jonny one. I think a lot of people know what I'm talking about...) and I've been trying to find some more coldplay fanfiction.

But I'm having no luck, so I was wondering, does anyone else know any more coldplay fanfiction (or writes some)? I would write some, but I'm not very good at writing. My English teacher says I'm "too detailed".

How can you be too detailed?

lmao, Frosty :P

Yeahhhh, I posted links to those other fics by request, but really the only decent cp fanfic is CWYS.

One of us should attempt to make up an ending for it.

......I need closure!! :bigcry::lol:

I thought about finishing as well, but...

I don't know how. :D Maybe everyone of us should post one sentence? :laugh3:

I can write the ending right now:

And they all fucked each other senseless and Chris got pregnant with Guy's baby while Jonny decided he was actually in love with Liam Gallagher and runs off with him the end.

Yeah, that works! :smug:

:laugh3: In love with Liam? Hahahaha.

Oh, I am just trying to imagine a pregnant Chris. He'd be quite moody.

Ahh, coldplay_slash @ LJ.

Hey, when you're in the mood for it, you're in the mood for it. :3

Mpreg, mansex, eloping...

It has everything! I can sleep at night now!

:laugh3: LMAO. Hahaha. Oh well, that pleases me.

Coldplay fanfiction is fine with me but I prefer Chris/Gwyneth stories more than Chris/Jonny even though that couple is cute. =] Heck, Chris/Guy is cuter.

Has anyone read the fanfic about Guy and Orlando Bloom? Whoa, that thing was hott.

Band fanfic's suck indescribably hard.

Band fanfic's suck indescribably hard.

THANK YOU!!!

For you guys that are into it, that's fine. I'm not one of those ppl on here who hangs around threads I don't like just to say i don't like them.;)

It's a free, open forum. But please just consider this:

Kirk/Spock=Fictional Characters.

Mulder/Scully=Fictional Characters.

Chris/Jonny/Gwynneth/Guy etc=REAL PEOPLE!! Like You! How would you feel if this were written about YOU??

I'm sorry. I find the whole thing creepy. But it's your business what you post, and I won't come in hear bitching again. Thanks for reading.

Lmaoooooo..

I forgot all about Fanfic..

I remember the first time reading CWYS..

My jaw was on the floor.

THANK YOU!!!

You have a point. I never thought about it that way, I can be slow at times. I like to read the fanfiction but I'd never write it. Never!

I've read some X-Files stuff that's actually kind of funny...it just bugs me when the subjects are real.

One minor point to add, and I'm not complaining: Debs and possibly others who work with the Band do post on this site...might be better to PM fanfics, lol.;)

Seriously, if you like Coldplay fan fiction you need to slit your wrists.

I wouldn't go as far as that, but I find the concept repulsive too.

My God! We agree on something!

Yes, but we have different reasons.

For you it's more a matter of respect. Don't write false things about real people. Fair enough.

My beef is that it's obviously the product of a fan not knowing where to direct his/her appreciation.

We don't listen to Coldplay because we like the people, we like the music. So when you listen to a Coldplay song, you're enjoying 4 people playing music together. That's it.

Without their talent, we wouldn't find these guys fascinating. So stop pretending that 'LOL GUY IS SO QUIRKY', because you wouldn't give a damn about Guy unless he was talented.

Actually Tom, at the risk of offending the ppl who enjoy this thread, I agree with you on the second count too...but only partially.

Fanfic creates elements of a person that the writer can't possibly know to be true. And I do think it takes away from the appreciation of the music, which is the most important thing.

We have a fascination with famous people...but I think it is possible to give a damn about people we don't know from albums, videos or tabloids. I love alot of really great musicians that noone's even heard of, and I'm curious about the people that make that music; what inspires them, what they were going through when they wrote a certain song etc. People are fascinating creatures, famous or not. And it's ok to wonder what they're like in their real lives. I'm a vertually unknown artist myself, and I get the occasional email asking where a song came from (or worse yet, how can the listener help, lol) so I get that part of it a little.

Anyway, sorry to ramble. In short, I agree it's misdirected appreciation.

But like I said before, if I don't like it, I don't have to come into this thread.

Yes, our culture does have an obsession with celebrities but of all the band message boards I visit, Coldplay fans by far are the most off center (in a bad way). I'm not even talking about the pointless and disgusting obsession with Gwyneth, either.

Hardcore fans of every band obviously learn about the musicians. And sure, you can talk about a cool t-shirt one of them wore, or what they look like, how they've treated fans in the past, things like that.

But they aren't superheroes. How could a fan fiction about completely normal human beings be healthy or interesting?

You've built them up too much, people.

No one ever said it was healthy.

But... is drinking and smoking healthy? Does it make you any happier?

I... I like the idea of fanfiction, although it is something weird. As soon as I start thinking about it, I feel really weird. But...

:wink3: What else should I do? I like fanfiction and... I just wanted to say that I don't feel bad about it myself.

And... Oh MY GOSH, how can you not like it? Fanfictions can be so great, so sad and touching.

Careful Where You Stand, such a great story. It is sad, it is... great.

I am sorry, but I can't put it into different words. That's how I feel about it.

I love harry potter fanfiction :D

I read that coldplay story also a few years ago...i still like harry potter better. so much more you can come up with, so much to do with the story...

I'm not against fanfiction though. go fanfiction. whoot.:P

I've read only one HP fanfiction by Cassandra Claire. It was good. :D

Huge fanfiction fan!!! Especially for the t.v. show House M.D.! I'll just come out and say right now that I'm a loser that runs a House fanfic site and writes House fanfiction.

However...

bandfiction... ehh... it's kind of creepy reading, but at the same time you just want to read it to see what everyone is talking about. CWYS from a fanfic point of view was absolutely great... but it's bandfic, so weird as hell but emotion evoking?

THANK YOU!!!

i have to say that i almost entirely agree. the fact that theyre real people bothers me, and i hate to think that they might read these things.

at the same time, i find myself drawn to reading them, like how you cant look away from a car crash or something. i think its just anything to do with them and/or the music sucks me in. i refuse to read the really slashy, X-rated ones, though. i find that disgusting. i was into beatles fanfic for a while and found some decent, cute ones, but once i got into the really revolting ones i was put off for a while.

CWYS, though, i liked a lot. i think it went only slightly too far as opposed to WAAAY over the line as most do, and i think the writer had good ideas and talent.

i'm a writer myself, and while i cant write straight-out fan fiction, ive written stories about characters based on certain aspects of what we know of peoples personalities, such as chris or jonny or whoever, and i really enjoy that because its not offeding anyone and you can tweak things without guilt. ive actually written a story about a band loosely based on coldplay.

so. theres my two cents.

I don't like NC-17 fiction myself (most times anyway) but I don't think there is a big difference. In the end it's all about people fantasizing and being creative. Some is better and some just sucks. Real Person fanfiction is something that has been t here for so long and is not just teenagers on the net swooning about their favourite bands. I recently read a book about a guy who's travelling in time to meet the Beatles so they wont split up. Reading it I realized this is nothing but a fanfiction as well. Just in a more subtle way then some slah fanfictions out there. But I don't see how in any way this is better.

It's not about confusing reality, I'm aware Coldplay or whatever band it is is not really like this but it's about imagining. In the end every author is creating their own charecters anyway and basing them on the band.

I haven't really heard of any band complaining about fanfiction, all I know is Alex of Franz Ferdinand thinks it's funny and creative.

In the end every author is creating their own charecters anyway and basing them on the band.

Hmmmhhhh... That's really true. True... It surprises me that I NEVER thought about that. Yeah... :D

Well, I've read one disturbing fanfiction, just about a month ago and I must say this was over the edge, dirty and just... (ég-elska-thom has read it as well and didn't like it)

But I had good parts in it. :D The other bits made it feel like a thriller.

Well, in the end it was just about Radiohead running away and hiding from Suede, so...

No one ever said it was healthy.

But... is drinking and smoking healthy? Does it make you any happier?

That's the worst analogy ever.

Face it, fan fiction is for peoples misplaced obsession.

Face it' date=' fan fiction is for peoples misplaced obsession.[/quote']

So where am I suppose to place it then??

fanfiction is a way of expressing your ideas and feelings through characters people known. like many people know, it's horribly difficult to create your own character and explain them, when using something/ someone everyone knows, it gives easier ways to express, while also showing your fanaticism. Personally I think fanfiction does wonders, writers have to start somewhere. (not that all writers start w/ fanfiction).

So where am I suppose to place it then??

Listen to the music, read about the bands early days, discuss the meanings of songs and lyrics. Buy the merchandise. You know, normal stuff.

So what you're saying is that your Coldplay fan fiction has nothing to do with the band, and any Coldplay association exists on a purely superficial level?

fanfiction and bandfiction is two different things :D

That and I meant in general. Fanfiction is a HUGE subject.

Also, who are you to decide what is normal?
