Career over family?

Featured Replies

Would u pick career over family?

Like, would u rather succeed in your career and not have kids, or rather have kids and maybe not achieve all your profesional dreams?

id personally pick family..id always pick family

I'd prefer to have a nice family than to have a superb career.

I don't know. I first thought it was family as in your own parents.

But then I read on and it was to have kids.

So, I instinctively chose career..

I'd like to have a career before having kids... cos when you have kids, you need money, and if you don't have a good job, then, no money...

So maybe I'll be a bit self centered... but my career is one of my dreams... so family will come after my career... Maybe it will change... I don't know.

Its easy to say you won't, but sometimes careers get the better of you.

Careers mean money.

Family is forever.

Yeah, money doesn't last forever like family, but I'd like to have money before I start having kids...

I just know where I don't want to have to live when I have kids...

And yes, I remember the question...

I work to live and not live to work ;)

So I picked for family

i dont think career=money

career is also a dream, i wanna acheive things for self fulfillment, not so i could be rich.

So, i think it would depend what my bigger dreams would be when im older- kids or professional dreams...

I think one thing that i would definetly like is a partner so that i dont grow old alone, but i dont know about kids.

Plus, i agree with everything Mike said

Tough question......

right now I would sponatneously say family...but who knows....maybe I find a job which is great......which plays a veeery important role in my life or something like that....and then maybe I'd choose career....

but if you work and have a good career and no time to enjoy the life?

would you still coose the career?

Eh, why such extreme opinions? I don't think I'll vote in this one.

haha, you couldn't have said it better Charles. ;) That's what I was just thinking about!!! Doesn't make sense to have such extreme opinions, life has different shades and I think we could be able to manage everything!

My career is ahead to my future family... but when I find someone special, I guess I'd like to have kids with him.

Just like you've posed the question, seems that people who say that family is over their professional dreams will turn to a housewife...

I pretty much already picked career over family ... I mean, with my 'school' now I'm only home from friday night till sunday night. Yup, the army surely takes you away from everything you love ...

But next year it'll be better cause then I can have a computer in my room at the military school.

that's not what i meant, but it's a known fact that many women who have kids do have to postpone everything careerwise because it's hard to be a mom, and keep some careers. And it doesnt work the same for men- im not saying this to sound premitive. but many employers choose not to employ moms because it is an issue.

Im asking, in extreme options on purpose, if having kids meant that u wouldnt be able to achieve all your proffesional aspirations (im not saying u wont work, im saying u wont have the job of your dreams) would u rather settle for a job that u dont love and have kids, or do u think your career would be more important to u than starting a family.
