Jenjie
Seinfeld star 'sorry' over racism Ex-Seinfeld star Michael Richards has apologised for directing a racist insult at a heckler during a stand-up comedy performance in Los Angeles. The 57-year-old, who played eccentric neighbour Cosmo Kramer in the long-running sitcom, said he "went into a rage" when his act was interrupted. "I'm really busted up over this and I'm very, very sorry," Richards said. His former co-star Jerry Seinfeld said he felt "sick" about what he branded a "horrible, horrible mistake". "It is so extremely offensive. I feel terrible for all the people who have been hurt," Seinfeld added. Furious response Richards had been performing at the Laugh Factory on Friday when two black audience members appeared to shout at him that he was not funny. He paced across the stage in a fury and repeatedly taunted the men for disrupting his routine. While some people in the crowd were heard to chuckle, another was audibly horrified. The events were captured on video and passed to the TMZ.com entertainment website. In a statement, Richards said: "I was at the comedy club trying to do my act and got heckled. I took it badly and went into a rage." He apologised to "those people in the audience - the blacks, the Hispanics and the whites, everybody who was there and took the brunt of that anger and hate and rage, and how it came through". Career 'ruined' Seinfeld was not the only member of the entertainment industry to condemn Richards. Veteran publicist Michael Levine said the remarks were inexcusable. "I've never seen anything like this in my life," he said. "I think it's a career-ruiner for him." Comedian Paul Rodriguez, who co-owns the Laugh Factory, said he had banned the performer from the well-known venue. "It was unfortunate, it was sad," he said. "I was at the back watching this, and I kept waiting for a punchline that could justify the words before it. It didn't come." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6167920.stm

TraceOddity
In All fairness, Seinfeld did support him in his appology on Letterman. But that doesn't make it right or acceptable. If you or I said it, we'd end up in court...or at least getting the shit kicked out of us. If I were Michael, I wouldn't walk around NY alone for awhile. WHen are we goihg to grow up as a society? I've had ppl of different races give me a hard time when I've sung in bars...I don't 'go into a rage' and call them racist names.:(

james.xy.blunt
Little WHITE Shadows blink x&y miss them, part of a system I am? Fu*ck me x&y give Sir Michael Richards a chance x&y a fair go. We all mistakes x&y I've made racist remarks, but my life did not end. So why should SMR's career? I mean it's just one minor slip of the tongue, we're all fu*cking human. Why be so fuc*king PC PR sensitive over race, ESPecially in the comedy arena where they make satire fun of other ethnicities? Give SMR a break & stop CONdeming witch hunting the poor man. He is a legend in the TV comedy stakes, done so much blood, sweat x&y tears for it all, so he FUC*KING doesn’t deserve his whole reputation ruined. x&y to those who accuse him of Ku Klux Klan fucking lighten up (I mean that literally you ugly charcoal nigger;) ). SMR probably was stressed or had a bad day, I mean it's not like SMR killed anybody. I can't believe my fellow Coldplay fans are bigots x&y close minded wan*kers. :(

james.xy.blunt
I hear you come nearer but I don't understand? POUR ME I get that inane reply a lot when I outwit x&y outsmart people in an argument. It's like the opposition (TO) is too stupid/dumb/lazy/intellectually devoid to come up with a counter-argument, hence they resort to simpleton attempts at lowering my credentials so TO can try to feel marginally better. anniep_93
It's ironic that he was the heckler in Seinfeld. However I think he deserves a bit of a break. His apology looked sincere to me and well, he's only human.
huntjd
wow. i just watched it now, i heard about it at school. he took it waaay too far... and he probably knows it, although however much he tries to apologise it won't do shit, hes lost any credential... anniep_93
He has, but still through my eyes I will always love him. I've been a massive Seinfeld fan for as long as I remember and this wont change the way I look at his career. Kremer forever.
blackchickintheback
Wow. His career is done... It makes me extremly sad to see people who still feel like that. There shouldn't be prejudice in the world. My GOD. And I don't care if he's quote/unquote "sorry". He's just sorry because his career is DONE and some people have lost respect for him. And a "sudden outburst" - my goodness. That only means that he lost control of how he really felt and now he's got egg on his face. It's just sad... james.xy.blunt
are you running in a circle you can’t be too careful it's HOW YOU SEE THE WORLD What would be even more sad if his talent goes to waste over a transitory moment of OUT of character anger. I've made racist comments in the past (x&y LATER rationalised those statements as WRONG in time), x&y yes I have perceived the Anglo race as superior since 2001 (I'm an Asian born in 1980), but that doesn’t stop me from appreciating/mingling/respecting other nationalities. We're All In This Together (a Ben Lee song), for better or worse. People change, conscience catches up with you. I'm sure Michael Richards will feel sorry for what he did. All races have something of value to contribute, x&y that is fact. Today's racism is more subtle, like what is your favourite colour, your favourite football team, favourite film or book. Maybe that's not the best analogy, as when we compare our favourite things by which we attach sentiment x&y value to - we get passionate, vented up x&y emotional. Yes in today's culture race is not an issue x&y anyone in today's politically correct (PC) world who steps a tiny]/i] fraction outside the boundary: INSTANTLY/BANG they get accused of being a Nazi (like Mel Gibson, who by his own right is an amazing actor/director x&y has done so much for the film industry). Life is a swinging bi-polar tempo of moderation x&y extremism, I can equally hate you or love you all at the same time, or at different times; just like passive/aggressive x&y love/hate relationships... And a "sudden outburst" - my goodness. That only means that he lost control of how he really felt and now he's got egg on his face. It's just sad...
