oh, and i think Colts (finally...) will make it.

though, as NE fan, i wouldn't like that...

I think the Colts are going to win. They've had a pretty good season...

Can someone explain what the superbowl is all about?

It's basically the championships in the NFL (American Football). It's quite popular to invite a lot of people over to your house and watch it together...it's a very big event.

So is it like the final of a knockout contest (like the Football Association Challenge Cup) or the top 2 teams in the league playing off to win the league (like the Rugby Union Premiership)?

It's the final of a knockout contest. I don't really follow football, but I think it's like 3 or 4 rounds of single elimination. I would probably care more if the Bills made the playoffs, but alas.

The league's teams are divided into two conferences: the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Each conference is then further divided into four divisions consisting of four teams each, labeled East, West, North, and South.

AFC East:

Buffalo Bills

Miami Dolphins

New England Patriots

New York Jets

AFC North:

Baltimore Ravens

Cincinnati Bengals

Cleveland Browns

Pittsburgh Steelers

AFC West:

Denver Broncos

Kansas City Chiefs

Oakland Raiders

San Diego Chargers

AFC South:

Houston Texans

Indianapolis Colts

Jacksonville Jaguars

Tennessee Titans

NFC East:

Dallas Cowboys

New York Giants

Philadelphia Eagles

Washington Redskins

NFC North:

Chicago Bears

Detroit Lions

Green Bay Packers

Minnesota Vikings

NFC West:

Arizona Cardinals

St. Louis Rams

San Francisco 49ers

Seattle Seahawks

NFC South:

Atlanta Falcons

Carolina Panthers

New Orleans Saints

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Season consists of 4-game exhibition preseason with a 16 game regular season.

At the end of each regular season, six teams from each conference play in the NFL playoffs, a twelve-team single-elimination tournament that culminates with the NFL championship, the Super Bowl.

* The four division champions from each conference (the team in each division with the best regular season won-lost-tied record), which are seeded 1 through 4 based on their regular season won-lost-tied record.

* Two wild card qualifiers from each conference (those non-division champions with the conference's best won-lost-tied percentages), which are seeded 5 and 6.

actually, Super Bowl is the most watched TV broadcast worldwide, i think

it also means, if you want your commercial (around 30 seconds) to be played during the Super Bowl, you'll have to pay more than $2 million

Sounds confusing to be honest.

And isn't american football just the American's version of rugby?

Bears are still leading though, Colts fucked up that extra point

I know that was crazy!

I turned around for a few seconds, and it was 6-0!\

It still can go either way.
