It's racist and highly offensive...I am half german after all...

it's just that germans and germany in general will always be associated with nazis and hitler.

it's so disrespectful and mean when people from other countries still say shit like:"ahh...yeah, you're that nazi country" and everything.

tzz... that makes me so mad.

i hate it.

i do not dislike being german, but i dislike the position germany has in other people's eyes. it'll never change. never.

In school, when we're young, we study World War 2, and we don't yet have the maturity to figure out that Germany has moved past that awful time in its history. No country in the world cracks down on Neo-Nazis as hard as Germany because Germans don't want to go back to that attitude. It's sad that people haven't grown up and caught on yet.

i can't believe that that swastika sign is being parodied (is that even a word?) in other countries.

it's forbidden here, but i always see a bunch of swastika flags at football games in italy.

i couldn't imagine someone here bringing such a flag to a game (besides the fact that the sign is forbidden here).

or when prince harry once wore a nazi costume.

people in germany didn't get over it.

Yeah, it's dissapointing that Germany sometimes is still 'viewed' that way. Some kids here make fun of Germans like they are all Nazis and all...and I find that completely out of line.

The people that were ignorant enough to say much horrible things like that will just keep saying it, and other people will catch on with it and spread that thought around. It's sad, but it's true.

I remember that stunt of Prince Harry's. The German people were scandalized...along with alot of others.

Sadly, it's very common among American youth, and the Nasi Skinhead movement in the US is big business. At the bottom of the ladder are disenfranchised youths with swastikas tattood on their arms, and at the top are men in suits raking in big bucks selling an out-dated idea.

Sorry, I didn't mean to go on a rant, but this subject really gets under my skin...guess I'm not being careful about how I post, lol. But I know I'm right. And it's an insult to the progress Germany has made.

It is an insult. I completely agree with out Tracie. American youth can be ridiculously ignorant, and it pisses me off, because I AM part of American youth. It pisses me off knowing that my peers can just stoop so low to being part of such digustingly offensive acts. I hate being thrown into that category of 'stupid teenagers', because yeah, teenagers can be stupid. And I don't think like them.

^^Are you also german??

No, I'm Vietnamese-American. I was born and raised in Philadelphia.

I'm just saying that I don't appreciate how some Americans here bad-mouthing Germans all the time. It's really ignorant and immature.

Yeah I didn't appreciate that comment at all. At least I stuck up for you Rick. I know you can make some not nice (but often humerous) comments about Marek but I don't think you cross the line.

Well yeah..and I should hope so..because if you did not.....well it's not worth saying.....

Yeah it is....people are always going to be ignorant......

My great grandfather was a jewish German.

And I studied 5 years of German at school. So I have no negative connotations of modern German people.

I offer hugs to all friendly German people.

Except the guy I met on holiday once about 4 years ago. We were on a camp site in tents and we were washing dishes at the communal sink place and this german guy tried to steal our washing up liquid. It was like, half an hour of "nein, das ist mein!" between my uncle and this german guy. Ahh, memories... :D

Oh dear....:laugh4:

that's just that constant fight on holiday between the british and germans...

we're always armed with our towels, though.

Haha. I remember being a 13 year old attitute Brit boy and me and my cousin ran down to the pool at 3am and threw all the towels in the pool.

Then the next morning at 7am (when the pool was open) my mam and aunt said "Jack, Paul, we're going to the pool, we left towels out last night" and my uncle said "Beat the Germans at their own game".

Paul and I looked at eachother. It was a brilliant, but at the time horrifying moment.

Good thread.

I voted 'Not at all' even though technically it should be 'Sometimes' because I am sensitive to the fact that certain issues cant be messed around with.

But those are very rare circumstances, Im obviously an opinionated poster.

I am just because I know my friends are doosh bags and read my posts.

I mean my friends from real life..haha.

They think its weird that I go on message boards.

I don't give a fuck what they think though, haha.

Its weirder to me that they are concerned enough to look.
