Post your favorite books!!!

I need some goodies to read.:smart:

This should be a nice way to spread word of a good book!

the same thing I would reply for favorite movie (because it's based on a book) :P

The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas

Very long and semi-historical. But too well written to skip out on and action packed!

Everything by J. D. Salinger... Well, obviously, 'Catcher in the Rye' is amazing, but 'Nine Stories' are really good too. My personal favourite is 'A Perfect Day Fo Bananafish', it's just wonderful, really.

Besides there's a really good 'Zooey', a very profound story.

Okay, enough about Salinger. I also love 'The Sound and the Fury' by W. Faulkner. This book is so perfectly unusual, just great.

Banana Yoshimoto is one of my favourite writers, too. 'Kitchen' is probably the most popular book of hers but I'd also recommend 'Amrita'.

By the way, just a few weeks ago I found this really unique book 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' by Mark Haddon and it blew my mind, seriously. It's a very strange and thrilling story, written in a very unusual style and it's just amazing. I really hope you will read it and enjoy just like I did.

That's all for now, I'm gonna add some later though.

Sebastian Faulk's books. Specially Birdsong.

Can't tell you about my favourite book (I don't read that much....unforunately...:\)....but currently I'm reading "city of light" the last days of Jim Morrison in Paris....what I've read so far is ok...

Ooooh, Thank you for the linkie!

the problem of the site i posted, is that mostly are old books there, if you want to read modern literature, there are few ones. :/

I have this book for my English finals. I like it because it's quite unusual... Before reading it I thought that it was lame, but it's not! :)

I also liked The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. It's a fairytale but it's good for teenagers and adults as well. :)

And The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

I didn't even know such book exists... The only thing that comes to my mind is the story little Donnie's sister was writing in Donnie Darko movie heh.

One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel García Marquez

it's awesome.. I love it :nice:

So far, mine's 'The Catcher in the Rye'. I don't know if it's because it's so awesomely random, or that I can relate with the story so much. I cried reading it, because Holden reminded me a lot of myself.

Oooh, now i realized which book you're talking about! We have that too, my mum wanted to buy it because of the writer. I guess i could read it too if you both think it's a great book!

Did she write a story about an unicorn? I saw that film, but I can remember her writing it

well, i like it because of the storyline, but some phrases are repeating over and over again, because the main character is autistic.

may be the book author, made the adapted version for the film :idea2:

Arturo Perez-Reverte, takes part in the film adaptations of his books.

Info about the film

Anthony Kiedis' autobiograph "Scar Tissue".

It's a brilliant story. :)

For anyone who has a remote interest in the Chili Peppers.

haven't seen the movie yet, but i think i should! :)

Lord of the Flies
indeed! i loved it, though it was pretty scary.

"Blindness" by José Saramago...what if the whole world went blind?

If the sig and avatar doesn't give it away, more than anything I'm a Tolkien fanatic. Lord of the Rings all the way. (And for the record, it was for years before the movies, too.)

Recently,... hmm don't really read much outside of class. It's hard to read for fun when you have to read for work.

Antigone is brilliant, though. It's old, it's sad and it's Greek, but it's totally worth reading. One of the best things I've read in ages.

Really? I didn't like it at all! :P
