Lost drama to carry on until 2010

Featured Replies

There will be three more series of Emmy-winning TV show Lost before it finally ends in 2010.

A "highly-anticipated and shocking finale" is being planned by TV network ABC, which acknowledged viewers may drift away unless the drama concludes.

Each series will be 16 episodes with no mid-season break, following complaints the last series was divided in two.

The desert-island programme, which stars Evangeline Lilly and Matthew Fox, follows the survivors of a plane crash.

They are stranded in a mysterious location and must come to terms with the other inhabitants of the island as well as the isolation of their new home.

'Deserved' ending

"Due to the unique nature of the series, we knew it would require an end date to keep the integrity and strength of the show consistent throughout and to give the audience the pay-off they deserve," said Stephen McPherson, the president of ABC Entertainment.

Two of the people responsible for the programme - executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse - have agreed to remain until the end of the run.

They said in a joint statement that they had always thought of Lost as a show "with a beginning, middle and end", and hoped fans would be happy knowing that it would now "play out as we've intended".

Lost was once watched by more than 20 million viewers each week in the US.

However, the most recent series drew audiences of about 12 million in its Wednesday evening timeslot.

Viewing figures in the UK have also slipped since it moved to Sky from Channel 4.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

:(

wow.... that just makes me not want to watch the show even more knowing it won't end 'till 2010!:stunned:

OMG this show is shite, and should have ended years ago!!!

Its only 3 possibly 4 more seasons, which would leave it 6 or 7 long. nothing compared to Friends, ER, etc

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

:(

no ones forcing you to watch it ............

But unlike Friends/ER there is a massive plot-hole.

Airplanes are the most watched vehicles in the world, air traffic controllers can tell if a plane goes off course and disappears when it doesn't arrive at the airport it was flying to.

How the heck are they going to keep the plot for that long?! They already seem to be making it up as they go along!

Yeah I agree with David, complete waste of time, and to make matters worse, its extremely boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is a show that i wish i watched, i've heard its great

this is a show that i wish i watched, i've heard its great

It was.. but now it's heh

So basically 2 seasons worth of episodes stretched over 3 seasons. It would probably take them that long just to sort everything out at this point...

At least they can go back to plan A with the plot now and stop making up filler for the middle. With any luck, it should get better.

But unlike Friends/ER there is a massive plot-hole.

There's like... a bajillion plot holes.

Thank God for suspension of reality. :smug:

Though, that stupid show is gonna go on after I graduate highschool? Dayum. I want it to end. I hate watching shows without closure of any sort.

But there are differences between plot holes and mysteries. I think there are some plot holes even though it will be hard to tell until the show ends, but the missing airplane thing is one of the mysteries for sure.

And it was recently revealed that the authorities did find the crashed plane- at the bottom of the ocean, all passengers accounted for. Bringing back the "they're all in purgatory/hell/whatever" theory.

But as anyone familiar with say medieval romances like the King Arthur stories can tell you, creating an artificial and improbable situation to explore human behavior is one of the oldest narrative tricks in the book. Expecting true to life reality in a story is a very modern idea, and not always a very constructive one.

this is a show that i wish i watched, i've heard its great

It's shite,it started off really great.but it should have ended years ago..

it's great. you should watch it from the start. the only way to go especially considering it's long twisted plots.

as long as they start letting up with some secrets, i don't mind.

But unlike Friends/ER there is a massive plot-hole.

ah! They found the wreckage of 'Lost' plane flight 815 - there were no survivors ;)

So it comes onto my theory that they are all being held against their will on another planet as an experiment for Aliens...

yep, agreed...

I used to be obsessed with lost, maybe I still am, in some ways... but it has already become completely unreliable (hey, they always said there was gonna be an explanation that makes sense it the end... :dozey: ) and unfortunately rather boring. :\

so yeah... at the moment I don't really see how two more seasons are gonna work.

a theory which has been denied in its entirety by the creators.

I'm sorry to say but that theory is funny to me haha it is possible though.

I'm sure one of us got it right.. but the creators have to denied because they can't give it again..otherwise people won't watch.. but well they are losing viewers. Anyway, when is the season finale for Lost?

PS: I remember that time Ian said he watched this show for the first time and he said he was shocked at how there was a bear in the island  :D
