Red-blooded men of all ages have loved the mini-skirt since its introduction in the 1960s and rarely complain about a good pair of legs on display.

But for women it seems there's a definite cut-off point when it comes to the skimpy garment.

A new survey has found that women believe miniskirts should be consigned to the bottom drawer, never to be worn again, when they hit the ripe old age of 28.

And it's not just skirts that women turn their nose up at a certain age - the study of 2,500 women also suggested that bikinis should be binned at 48 and boob tubes are a no-no after 33.

Those with a belly-button piercing should remove it when they hit 35, while those with long hair should lop of their locks when they reach 52.

Men, it seems however, are free to grow old disgracefullyq, according to the poll.

Jeans don't have to be dumped until men reach 64 - but trainers have to go four years earlier - and even the teens' favourite, the hooded top, can be worn with pride until the aged of 39.

Tracksuit trousers should be replaced with something a little more conservative at 44 and football supporters should abandon their team shirt - in public anyway - at 53.

Despite their strict views on what others should wear, 40 per cent of those asked said they worried that others may think they dress "too youthfully" when they go out.

The poll was conducted by Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington, Cheshire.

The centre's style expert Flic Everett said: "The survey shows how unforgiving we can be about clothes. Ultimately what matters is how you look and feel.

"Nobody wants to be mutton dressed as lamb, though - and the secret to style is dressing appropriately for your shape and age.

"A lot of us do worry that we haven't got it quite right because what looks great at 25 is less appealing at 45.

"Unfairly, it seems that men can get away with more, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Jeremy Clarkson 'straining shirt and denims' look on middle-aged men."

"should"

Who the fuck gets off on trying to tell women what they can and shouldn't wear and at what age?

Another pointless "study".

Imagine if that was your life - to think about study's you can carry out - and then announce your ground-breaking results to the world..."Women over 28 should bin their mini-skirts!!!"

I'm sure there are more better things to do with you mind, for crying out loud.

I guess half-witted airheads find this sort of thing very useful.

Who the fuck gets off on trying to tell women what they can and shouldn't wear and at what age?

exactly my thought.

and it's not what you wear but how you wear it.

true.

Wow..what a useless study...:surprised:
