That sounds like a good idea. I'll be off, have a nice run and tennis playing day!

Sometime later, in reality land..

If all we are is what we do, then why define all that counts as only work? If I fix faucets and roofs, move refrigerators and clean cabins, yet consider the impacts of chlorinated hydrocarbons on human health, am I still just a handyman, or more? If I have thought about and acted on changing the dynamics of the relationship we hold with the environment, is this not part of who I am?? I just think sometimes we stunt our potential, and diminish the significance of what we're capable of, when we get too focused on daily nuts and bolts (not to say that isn't important; just that we need to keep broadening our horizons..)

Anyhow, that's what I do - whatever I'm asked to do! But beyond that lies an imagination and creativity capable of fathoming nanoparticle improvements to silicon solar cells, implications of the reliance on heavy metals in our economy, and getting involved in restoring fair-play to the US political process, to the maximum extent possible. Long shots tho they may seem; but without hope, we only have backwards to go.

That post deserves some sort of award. It's spot on. People are too quick to put people in "boxes" depending on what they do for a living.;)

So what do you do, JBE??

I'm out of the work force--after my father took a stroke--my mother and I looked after him at home for 6 years--she died suddenly Aug/05 leaving me to cope alone--he died 8 months later. It was hard work and free time was at a minimum but I would do it all again without hesitation. Losing my parents was the hardest thing I've ever faced--but I did it--they would have been proud and shocked. Now it's my turn to live and they wouldn't have wanted it any other way--not that I don't have my moments:cry:. Hey, everybody has something to cope with. You did ask---OK:)

It's alright to tell me what you think about me

I won't try to argue or hold it against you

I know that you're leaving, you must have your reasons

The season is calling your pictures are falling down

The steps that I retraced the sad look on your face

The timing and structure, did you hear, he fucked her

A day late a buck short I'm writing the report

On losing and failing when I move I'm flailing now

And it's happened once again, I'll turn to a friend

Someone that understands, sees through the master plan

But everybody's gone and I've been here for too long

To face this on my own, well I guess this is growing up

And maybe I'll see you at a movie, sneak preview

You show up and walk by on the arm of that guy

And I'll smile and you'll wave

We'll pretend it's okay

The charade, it won't last

When he's gone, I won't come back

And it'll happen once again, you'll turn to a friend

Someone that understands, sees through the master plan

But everybody's gone, and you've been there for too long,

To face this on your own, well I guess this is growing up

Well, I guess this is growing up

Thanks for sharing. Nobody could even begin to comprehend just how hard that must have been.

So what did you do before? Have you tried to get another job since, or do you not want or need one?

I was a receptionist--bookkeeper---no desire to get back into the work force---I paid my dues. Every now and then you can find me standing under a streetlight trying to make some spare change though.:laugh3::laugh3:
