From the recent blogs on coldplay.com and from what I've heard the band say during and after the X&Y era, I get the impression that Phil Harvey wasn't as involved with X&Y as he was with Parachutes and AROBTTH, but now he seems to be very influential again with Album 4. Is this is true?

Yes...it is correct...even for A Rush Of Blood To the Head, Phil and Coldplay did not work together for so much time...
