Saturday's Random Pollness

The thing is...I could live without a car but I'd have a problem if I wanted to not spend my entire life in my house.

Is the question could you live without a personal car, or cars in your life in general, does this include buses and trains and whatnot?

I could manage...just. I have a bike, that would help and going to and from Melbourne wouldn't be a problem, we have an airplane!

I think the first post said you can have planes, trains and busses.

If the question was 'could we live without motor vehicles of any kind?' It would be hard. It would be good for the planet, but all the goods we rely on are shipped by truck, trains and planes. If oil becomes too expensive, or if someone were to magically ban all motor vehicles, society as we know it would collapse. But if we're going to undo the damage we've done, we need to strongly consider reducing our oil-consuming transportation. We need to take a lesson from some African and Asian cultures and learn to be more self-sustaining on a personal and local level.

Anyway...I'm going off topic, lol. This should be its own thread.

Why not just make one?

A car?

Depends on where I lived. If I was in London, I could do it easy. In Houston, it would be impossible as there is no public transport out to where I live.

....doesn't help when public transport is useless where you live either...

The problem I have with public transport is having to stick to a timetable, at least with a car and a planned trip to your nearest town it doesn't matter as much if you get delayed.

^Yes that is a major problem!

public transportation sucks here.. I only like the subway...

Well there could be hidden dangers there!!

it's the safest I guess.. and it's very clean too :wacky:... it's ok

The busses are crap here...never on time, and not very well maintained. I'm glad I'm within walking distance of everything.

Compared to here, David, the public transport in England was beautiful...you'd really hate it here!

ok..
