Mouse problem

Featured Replies

Whenever I use the scrolly thing on my mouse to go up and down on pages it makes this terrible noise like a record being scratched or nails on a chalkboard...what could be the problem? It's really strange and very annoying.

when i opened this i thought you were talking about the rodent!

anyway... is it one of those mice that has a ball on the bottom?

Welcome back anna, how was your vacation?

For me when ever I scroll with my mouse it makes a weird noise, but its pretty quiet and not annoying.

No it's an optical mouse, but the noise isn't coming from the mouse itself, it's coming from my computer speakers and I just realized I can only hear it when the volume is turned up high.

And thank you Briggins, welcome back to you as well. my vacation was pretty awesome! ...and yourself? how have you been?

Since mine does this too (I was a little freaked out at first..) - I think it's just normal - maybe a tinsy winsy bit of radio frequency interference coming from the mouse line, or maybe with the card, and it's picked up somehow by the audio system. It sounds like a ball rolling on felt..:)

I'm still trying to get over the sound the computer makes with the fans running - it sounds like that sound you hear when swimming underwater - either the fish make noises, or it's from the boat motor props.. Oscillating beat frequencies that go in and out of sync..

I know how you feel - it's like: "what the heck is doing that??":laugh3:

Yeah, my computer is ... .ehh . It needs to go die. Thanks, chuck, I'm glad to hear I'm not alone!

Umm.. be kind to the computer - it's maybe not the end yet!:) Hard to get support for older systems, but they still work well for general stuff.. National Geographic has a really good article on computer waste (e waste) -plenty of problems, but lots of recycling going on, and some places reuse the parts for low-cost TV's, etc..

Anywhohow, mouse noise is fine; when the operating system is no longer supported at all, it's kinda curtains for any meaningful uses outside of basic Email and dedicated programs. If it's a windows98 machine, it could have another 3 years or more left!;) (I'm hoping..:stunned:):P
