Who did Chris write the song Green Eyes to????

 

I know it was for a girlfriend before gwyneth and that he was forbidden to play it live for quite a while but does anyone have more information on this green-eyed girlfriend???

Was an American girl Chris said, that he stayed with when he was having a bit of a meltdown. Will try find the article for you.

 

He also said it was for Jonny too, hehe.

 

In regards to the being forbidden to play it, I don't think he was, he just said that he didn't feel comfortable playing a love song he wrote for an ex girlfriend whilst his current one was watching

i read that interview too,but didn't remember the site properly,

but when i read that and also in an interview he said that he wrote that for jonny and for an american friend of his and also he played it live in the year 2003.

as for i read that some where they said that when they went for a concert they heard him play that song!

but obviously chris said that he wrote that song for jonny buckland.

do we have a quote of where chris said he wrote it for jonny? because i've always liked to believe that he wrote it for jonny but lacked the official evidence. i've only heard the story about that american girl that looked after him when he was "behaving like an idiot." which is also cute. but i think writing it for jonny would be cuter :heart:

I've been searching for ages for it, but alas I fail.

 

As I recall it was on a AROBTTH special called EPK or similar and Chris and Jonny were going through each song one by one and when they got to Green Eyes Chris was talking about the girl it was written for and kept saying 'we' and Jonny said 'the royal we?' and then Chris went on to say something like "no you and me". Hehe this doesn't make much sense, am typing as I think.

 

Pretty sure Chris said something along the lines of Jonny always being there for him and so in that sense Green Eyes was written for him too. I do remember Jonny going all shy and looking down at the table though :nice:

i hope that's the case, because despite the other explainations, i've always chosen to believe its written for jonny, consciously or not.

but i heard him refering jonny buckland on a 2002 radio show that i listened in somewhere in california!

he says that for two people,jonny buckland and girl we met in america and for you too....(telling that to the audience:))

i also didnt find any articles bout it... anybody got it???

As someone's mentioned, on the AROBTTH Promo Interview CD, he only talks about "a girl" he "met in America", when they discuss Green Eyes. But there was an ezine, which contained an interview Debs did with the boys; she asked Chris about that song and he said "I actually wrote that for two people and one of them was Jonny." (You can still view that ezine here, by the way.)

So yes, it is also about him. ;)

I have a book called "Look at the Stars" - Im sure some of you have heard of it.

But in it, it has a song-by-song quote thingo by Chris for each song in AROBTTH.

I've lent the book to a friend, but Im pretty sure it's there where he says that Green Eyes was written for the american chick when he "behaving like an idiot" etc etc.

 

Ill check that out to confirm it as well and see where the quotes are from.
