How Cool Is This?

Featured Replies

A girl I went to school with just released an album.

And better yet, she's winning really cool national songwriting awards for it. :shocked2: She always had an amazing voice, but WOW. I'm so happy for her. :nice:

Her name is Shobha, and what I've heard of the songs are great: http://profile.myspace.com/shobhamusic

I dig it! She's got a fantastic voice. I'm not huge on R&B but my best friend loves it, I'm passing the link onto her.

It's cool to see people you knew in the past make their dreams come true. Reminds me of my close friend from highschool, she is a makeup artist in Hollywood. She did the makeup for actors on the film Superbad for all the promo magazine shoots and now does makeup for fashion shows.

I'm really liking "Always on Your Feet". :)

^Yeah, it's not my style at all (alas, the reason she had to move to Toronto- Halifax is a rock and country sort of place :() but there's something to it that I really like in spite of the polish, even if I didn't know who she was.

The really REALLY weird bit though, is that you know how singers will say this song was inspired by and ex that song was inspired by something in highschool? I pretty sure I know what at least one of the songs is about- an incident that happened. But....but you never know those things normally. It feels like reading someone's diary sort of... :embarassed:

Anyway, listen to the acoustic vids anyone checking her out if you really want to know what she sounds like. Bet you plenty of big names can't sing like that live. :sneaky:
