The chords are right, but I don't think the rhythm or strumming pattern derived from the music works, and I have had trouble trying to hear it out myself. Anyone have their own written version? Some of the chords are wrong in the official tab book actually. if you play along to the end part of the song, the "If we don't hide here, they're gonna find us" bit... Some of the chords are wrong. I haven't attempted the lead yet, but I look forward to borrowing some pedals from friends and trying out the guitar intro and outro that Johnny does at live performances. The tab book I have says the following on the front in white letters at the bottom "All the songs from the album arranged for piano, voice, and guitar. Including complete lyrics & guitar chord boxes." So I am not sure if I have the same book as you do because my book does mention anything about a "giddyup" strum. Strumming patterns are easy to figure out yourself...I do know that a lot of tab books are frought with mistakes. At guitarcenter I was very dissapointed with the X&Y book because pretty much every song had either inconsistencies with live coldplay performance videos or just wrong notes altogether. The pull offs were wrong in square one, what if wasn't so bad, the chorus bending was simply on the wrong string, I'm pretty sure white shadows didn't sound right at all etc. I am very happy with my singles and b-sides book though, the only thing I thought was wrong was the solo of "the hardest part". anywho...I'm curious what the tab shows for the chorus lead because I've seen some really bad "official" tabs for that. as for the rythm, the "giddyup" strum is easy to figure out by listening to the song. Not really... Again, the singles and b-sides book was pretty much accurate all the way through, and the notes/chords for those songs corresponded perfectly with those same parts played live. but some parts in the X&Y book just didn't sound or look like either the live or the studio version. I don't know why there is a different tuning in the book. But I can play it without tuning and it sounds exact as the record says.. The first mistake in Square One is the chord. Don't know where I'm talking about? Okay, compare it with the record. And yes, Singles & B-sides is quite good. But also alot of mistakes. And yes I tryed to contact Coldplay to try to make my live version book of Live 2003 official.. And no, I never got a reaction. And yes.. brendan3eb Posted July 29, 2008 Author Share Posted July 29, 2008 so the last time I posted in this thread, I said I would be able to upload scans "by Friday or Saturday..." it looks as though I was much busier than I thought. Months later...I have finally gotten a chance to revisit this song. When you guys say the rhythm is simple, it makes me feel slightly embarrassed, so please do bear with my slowness. I was wondering if anyone checked the sheet music link I posted up. I am confident it's wrong, but perhaps I am wrong. Nevertheless, I've been trying to figure out the rhythm exactly by listening to the Belfort version on youtube, but I am still not getting all the nuances. Don't get me wrong, I can play a rhythm that sounds/goes with the song well, but it doesn't match up right with Chris' guitar. Once I get my webcam, perhaps I'll post up a vid to show you guys what I am playing now. For the moment, I'll try to right out the strums I am coming up with through listening to the vids on youtube. One last question to the person who posted the version with the slide from the E6 chord to the A chord...how do you manage to pull that off I am playing the G# of the E6 chord with my first finger which makes for an awkward transition w/ a slide to the A chord. Finally, I wouldn't be this nitpicky, but I have tentative plans to play this song at a coffee house at my school. So, I'd like to nail it and have people say "whoah, I didn't know coldplay had music like that!" Thanks. More comments, suggestions, and any pluck patterns would be greatly appreciated!
