The 2008 baseball thread (that only i will talk in)

Don't forget that Beckett is coming off an injury and isn't expected to go more than 5 innings. The Sox's pen is completely spent, and clearly isn't very strong judging by today.

very true. but i still have faith in beckett even he does have a short outing. the red sox bullpen isn't bad either... two of their worse pitchers saw action today but now okajima + papelbon will be rested for tomorrow.

ugh my yankees lose again! :bigcry:

I think you forget that Beckett is going against Halladay, easily one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.

I'm starting to like San Diego just because of Jake Peavey. That guy is amazing.

he's amazing! probably the best in the game.

yankees win today!

red sox lose.................again. whatever... i guess they just didnt want to waste their energy on toronto when they have detroit AND the yankees coming up. no worrys here!

  • Author

toronto is legit... it won't be jsut the yankees and sox in the race this year

yea i know... i dont really think they have a good chance at actually winning the east but they will be a contender. they always give the red sox trouble anyway.. i think the sox bats will come to life back at fenway.

Toronto is easily the most legit team they've been in 10 years. Don't underestimate them. They might not win, but they'll be close.

aww abreu was up needing a double for a cycle and got walked.

at least we're winning:)

haha i underestimate the blue jays because every year its either them or the orioles who add a few good players and everyone says watch outt its not gunna be just the yankees and red sox... but then it always is anyways.

  • Author

not the orioles this year... they suck

orioles are off to a decent start, but I doubt that will last all season.

  • Author

well don't you remember a couple of years ago where they led for like the first 2 months of the season? thne they began to suck. first week means nothing

great ceremony, great game, GREAT DAY. losing streak is over and the highly touted tigers are 0-7. good to see them back at fenway.

i mean once again i think it's really too early to worry but they sure don't look too good so far... on the pre-game show for the sox game today they said only two teams ever that have started 0-6 went on to make the playoffs... that must be scary to hear for tigers fans. but IMO theyll be fine, just a bad start.

Yeah, Cabrera hasn't been able to get that big bat of his going. He was banged up for a few games.

I'm sure they'll bounce back.

red sox winnnn!! always good to win the first series with the yankees! now we just need papi to start swinging the bat...

  • Author

at least the rest of your team is swinging the bat! Besides abreu and matsui, everyone is sucking!

  • 1 month later...

JON LESTER JUST THREW A NO HITTER!!!!! wow it was amazing. first lefty to through one for the red sox since like 1956 or something. it's really good for him too because he just beat cancer. such a good story. awwwwwwesome.

I figured you would enjoy that :P

First no-hitter of the season.

Blurgh.... meanwhile Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy are injured and scared, respectively.

So while I'm watching guys from Boston like Lester and Buchholz throwing no-no's and watching Beckett pitch lights out in October, I am seriously questioning Yankee pitching.

I really wish the Yanks had gotten Johan right now.

congrats to lester. i hate the sox but its hard not to support him.

but the yankees suck this year. i'm gunna have to get used to that
